Inpatient Utilization Management Clinician
Our client is seeking a detail-oriented and clinically strong Inpatient Utilization Management Clinician who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. This individual will bring sound clinical judgment, strong communication skills, and the ability to navigate complex cases while ensuring regulatory compliance and high-quality patient outcomes. The ideal candidate is proactive, organized, and comfortable working independently in a remote setting while partnering closely with care teams and physicians.
This role is a hybrid model in Boston, Massachusetts.
Inpatient Utilization Management Clinician Responsibilities
- Conduct concurrent and retrospective reviews of inpatient cases to assess medical necessity using established clinical guidelines and policies.
- Gather and evaluate clinical information from EMRs and other sources to support timely and accurate decision-making.
- Collaborate with physicians, care teams, and medical directors to coordinate care, support discharge planning, and resolve complex cases.
- Document, communicate, and manage utilization review activities, including referrals, authorizations, and compliance with regulatory timelines.
- Identify gaps, delays, or improvement opportunities in care delivery and contribute to process enhancements, audits, and team initiatives.
Inpatient Utilization Management Clinician Qualifications
- Active, unrestricted RN license in state of residence.
- 2+ years of utilization review experience within a managed care or inpatient setting, including use of evidence-based guidelines.
- Strong clinical judgment and critical thinking skills with the ability to evaluate complex cases and determine appropriate levels of care.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams.
- Proficiency in EMR systems, Microsoft Office, and working independently in a hybrid, deadline-driven environment.
Compensation: $38-$46.50/hr. (DOE)
