HR Leave of Absence Specialist
Our client is seeking a knowledgeable and service-oriented HR Leave of Absence Specialist to support employees and leaders through the leave management process. This role requires a detail-oriented professional with strong communication skills who can navigate complex leave programs, ensure compliance with applicable laws, and provide compassionate support during sensitive situations. The ideal candidate is highly organized, collaborative, and committed to delivering accurate guidance while maintaining strict confidentiality.
This position is based onsite and may be located in Hillsboro, Oregon, Medford, Oregon, Tacoma, Washington, or Vancouver, Wshington. Candidates who are able to work onsite in Hillsboro, Oregon are strongly preferred.
HR Leave of Absence Specialist Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary point of contact for employee and manager inquiries related to leave programs, eligibility, and processes.
- Administer and track leave cases while maintaining accurate records in HRIS and leave management systems.
- Partner with third-party administrators, disability carriers, payroll, and internal teams to coordinate leave cases and benefits continuation.
- Communicate with employees throughout the leave lifecycle, including eligibility notifications, documentation requests, and status updates.
- Monitor compliance with federal, state, and company leave policies while supporting reporting, audits, and policy updates as needed.
HR Leave of Absence Specialist Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; associate’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
- 2–5 years of direct experience administering leave of absence programs and managing case workflows.
- Working knowledge of applicable leave laws and programs such as FMLA, ADA accommodations, and related state regulations.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple cases, deadlines, and confidential information with discretion.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and familiarity with HRIS or leave management systems such as Workday, UKG, ADP, or AbsenceSoft preferred.
Compensation: $25-$30/hr. (DOE)
