Human Resources Assistant
Our client is seeking a collaborative and detail-oriented HR Assistant to support a busy Human Resources team across a wide range of administrative and operational functions. This role is ideal for someone early in their HR career who enjoys variety, thrives in a structured environment, and brings a positive, team-first mindset. The ideal candidate is proactive, highly organized, and eager to contribute across multiple areas of HR while building foundational experience.
This role is on-site in Portland, Oregon.
Human Resources Assistant Responsibilities
- Provide day-to-day support to the HR team by responding to employee inquiries and escalating issues as appropriate.
- Assist with onboarding and compliance processes, including I-9 completion, E-Verify tracking, and ongoing documentation audits.
- Maintain accurate and organized employee records through consistent data entry, electronic filing, and document management within HR systems.
- Support HR programs and initiatives such as compliance tracking, reporting, and coordination of required postings and communications.
- Generate and distribute recurring reports (e.g., employee milestones, anniversaries) and support general HR analytics using spreadsheets.
- Coordinate meetings, trainings, and team logistics, including scheduling and preparation of materials.
- Partner with HR team members on special projects, research efforts, and process improvements.
- Provide general administrative support including document preparation, scanning, and internal communications.
Human Resources Assistant Qualifications
- 1–3 years of experience in Human Resources, administrative support, or a related field.
- Foundational knowledge of HR practices, with interest in exploring areas such as onboarding, payroll, recruiting, or employee experience.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and comfort working with spreadsheets for tracking and reporting.
- Experience with HRIS systems and document management tools; familiarity with SharePoint or similar platforms is a plus.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and maintain attention to detail.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with a professional and approachable demeanor.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team-oriented, process-driven environment.
- Associate degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel occasionally as needed.
Compensation: $24-$27/hr. (DOE)
