Hardware Engineering Technician IV
Our client is seeking a Hardware Engineering Technician IV to support the development, integration, and validation of advanced power and battery-related hardware within a structured engineering environment. This individual will work closely with engineers on prototype and pre-production systems, contributing to new product introduction efforts and hands-on electrical testing. The ideal candidate is engineering-minded, comfortable working with high-voltage systems, and motivated by diverse technical challenges.
This role is onsite in Tualatin, Oregon.
Hardware Engineering Technician IV Responsibilities
- Support new product introduction activities by assembling, modifying, and validating engineering prototypes and pre-production hardware.
- Perform electrical and mechanical testing of power and battery-related systems under simulated operating conditions.
- Work with high-voltage DC and AC systems, ensuring safe handling, measurement accuracy, and adherence to lab procedures.
- Build, modify, and maintain custom test fixtures, harnesses, and lab setups to support development and reliability testing.
- Set up and operate laboratory equipment including oscilloscopes, digital multimeters, power analyzers, and data acquisition systems.
- Assist engineers with circuit modifications, schematic updates, and documentation of test results and observations.
- Participate in structured verification, validation, and reliability testing of critical subsystems and assemblies.
- Contribute to failure analysis investigations by capturing data, identifying anomalies, and supporting corrective actions.
- Provide early feedback on design, assembly, and testability considerations observed during prototype builds.
- Collaborate with cross-functional partners while maintaining strong communication and documentation discipline.
Hardware Engineering Technician IV Qualifications
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, or a related technical discipline.
- Demonstrated experience working with power electronics and high-voltage systems (e.g., ~600V DC / ~480V AC).
- Minimum of four years of hands-on experience in a hardware development, engineering lab, or prototype environment.
- Strong ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and mechanical drawings.
- Practical experience assembling and modifying electronic circuits, including soldering and rework.
- Proficiency with common laboratory instrumentation and measurement tools used in electrical testing.
- Experience creating or supporting test fixtures, validation setups, or reliability testing workflows.
- Familiarity with schematic capture or PCB design tools (e.g., Altium or similar platforms).
- Exposure to microcontroller-based systems, embedded hardware, or firmware-related debugging activities.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of working across varied technical assignments.
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative, team-focused working style.
Salary: $42.32/hr.
