Footwear Merchandise Planner
Our client is seeking a data-driven Footwear Merchandise Planner to support a high-demand, trend-driven footwear business. This role is ideal for someone with a strong planning or buying mindset who can leverage POS data, forecasts, and trend analysis to inform product investment decisions and drive assortment strategy. The ideal candidate brings a balance of analytical rigor, business acumen, and passion for consumer trends in a fast-paced retail environment.

This role is a hybrid model in Beaverton, Oregon.

Footwear Merchandise Planner Responsibilities

  • Analyze qualitative and quantitative data, including POS performance, to inform buying decisions, assortment strategies, and SKU productivity.
  • Evaluate trends, forecasts, and historical performance to guide product investment decisions, particularly for high-demand (“high heat”) footwear.
  • Conduct in-season business analysis and hindsight reporting to identify risks, opportunities, and performance drivers.
  • Support future season planning through unit forecasting, assortment planning, and inventory strategy development.
  • Maintain and update assortment planning tools, ensuring data accuracy and alignment across cross-functional partners.
  • Partner with planning, product, and cross-functional teams to align on forecasts, demand signals, and marketplace strategies.
  • Collaborate with regional teams to incorporate market-specific insights into broader assortment decisions.
  • Track and analyze product launch performance, including inventory flow and sell-through trends.
  • Prepare business reviews and presentations to communicate insights and recommendations to stakeholders.
  • Monitor consumer behavior, competitive landscape, and marketplace trends to inform ongoing merchandising strategies.

Footwear Merchandise Planner Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in merchandising, planning, buying, or a related retail function.
  • Strong experience analyzing POS data, forecasts, and trends to support product and investment decisions.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply both qualitative and quantitative insights to drive assortment and buying strategies.
  • Experience in a planning or buying capacity strongly preferred.
  • Proven ability to translate complex data into clear, actionable business recommendations.
  • Experience working cross-functionally in a fast-paced, consumer-focused environment.
  • Understanding of marketplace trends and consumer behavior within footwear, apparel, or retail.
  • Experience supporting or analyzing high-demand or limited-release product launches preferred.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel and experience with data-driven reporting tools.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Merchandising, Marketing, or a related field, or equivalent experience.

Compensation: Up to $32/hr. (DOE)
