Director of Finance
Our mission-driven client is seeking a Director of Finance to lead financial strategy, operational excellence, and organizational stewardship within inclusive and community-focused organization. This role requires a collaborative, adaptable leader who can navigate complexity, support diverse stakeholders, and translate financial insights into clear, actionable guidance. The ideal candidate is a strong communicator, a thoughtful people manager, and someone genuinely aligned with the organization’s community impact and values.
This role is a hybrid model in Hillsboro, Oregon, requiring 2 days per week in-office.
Director of Finance Responsibilities
- Lead day-to-day accounting activities, month-end close, budget development, forecasting, and ongoing financial oversight, including variance analysis.
- Manage complex funding streams, grants, and compliance requirements across diverse revenue sources including federal and state funding.
- Prepare and present financial reports and insights to executive leadership and the Board of Directors.
- Lead and oversee the annual financial statement audit process, serving as primary liaison to external auditors and ensuring timely, accurate completion.
- Supervise and develop team members while providing operational oversight across functions such as HR, IT, and internal systems.
Director of Finance Qualifications
- Bachelors Degree in Accounting or Finance preferred.
- Demonstrated supervisory experience with a track record of coaching and developing accounting staff.
- Experience operating in multi-entity or highly complex financial environments. Non-profit, property management, or affordable housing experience highly preferred.
- Strong expertise in month-end close, financial reporting, budgeting, financial controls, and board reporting.
- Ability to clearly communicate complex financial information to non-finance audiences.
- Proficiency with Sage Intacct or similar ERP system. Strong Excel skills.
- Comfort supporting a mission-driven non-profit organization that centers racial equity, immigrant justice, and inclusive community development.
Salary: $115K-$125K/year. (DOE)
