CO2 Laser Operator / Maintenance Support
Our client is seeking a skilled CO2 Laser Operator to support precision manufacturing operations in a fast-paced production environment. This role combines hands-on laser equipment operation with troubleshooting, maintenance support, and process improvement efforts to ensure high-quality output and reliable system performance. The ideal candidate is technically curious, detail-oriented, and comfortable collaborating across production, engineering, and maintenance teams.
This role is onsite in Beaverton, Oregon.
Shift Details:
- Monday–Thursday, 3:00 PM–1:30 AM. Initial training on day shift (5:30 AM–4:00 PM).
CO2 Laser Operator Responsibilities
- Set up, program, and operate CO2 laser systems to process a variety of materials while maintaining accuracy, efficiency, and quality standards.
- Troubleshoot laser processing issues and collaborate with engineering and maintenance teams to implement effective solutions.
- Perform routine maintenance, testing, and optimization of laser systems, positioning systems, and associated components to ensure reliable operation.
- Assist in developing and refining laser processing standards, procedures, and departmental best practices.
- Conduct controlled experiments and document findings to improve manufacturing processes and overall production capabilities.
- Evaluate first article and in-process parts to verify compliance with technical drawings, specifications, and quality standards.
- Recommend tooling, fixturing, or setup adjustments for standard and complex materials to improve production efficiency.
- Coordinate with internal teams such as engineering, maintenance, and sales to ensure technical requirements and product specifications are met.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on productivity, equipment performance, and process consistency.
- Maintain accurate technical documentation, including inspection results, program changes, and process adjustments.
CO2 Laser Operator Qualifications
- At least 1 year of experience operating laser equipment or similar CNC-based manufacturing systems.
- Experience programming or modifying CNC programs, including familiarity with G-Code.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, engineering documentation, and production specifications.
- Experience with quality inspection and measurement tools such as digital micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, or optical comparators.
- Familiarity with CAD/CAM systems and basic manufacturing programming concepts.
- Strong mathematical skills including algebra, geometry, trigonometry, and machine shop calculations.
- Knowledge of quality standards or regulated manufacturing environments such as ISO 9001, AS9100, or similar frameworks is preferred.
- Associate degree in electronics or a related technical field, or equivalent hands-on experience.
- Experience with industrial automation components such as PLCs, robotics, encoders, or stepper motors is a plus.
- Ability to work independently or collaboratively in a production environment while maintaining attention to safety and quality.
Salary: $20-$30+/hr. (DOE)
