CNC Lathe Programmer
Our client is seeking a detail-oriented and highly skilled CNC Lathe Programmer to develop and optimize machining programs for precision metal components. This individual will play a critical role in translating engineering drawings into efficient, production-ready CNC programs while collaborating cross-functionally to ensure quality, accuracy, and on-time delivery. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and takes pride in precision and continuous improvement.
This role is onsite in Hillsboro, Oregon.
CNC Lathe Programmer Responsibilities
- Develop, modify, and optimize CNC lathe programs using MasterCam (2020 or newer) and Esprit to produce complex metal components to blueprint specifications.
- Interpret technical drawings, GD&T requirements, and tolerance specifications to determine machining strategy and sequence of operations.
- Select appropriate tooling, establish tooling layouts, and assist in fixture design to ensure accurate and efficient production runs.
- Create detailed setup sheets and documentation to support machine operators and maintain consistent production standards.
- Review new jobs, assess manufacturing feasibility, and prioritize programming workload to meet production schedules.
- Revise and improve existing programs based on quality feedback, returned product analysis, or engineering updates.
- Coordinate daily with CAD teams, machine operators, and leadership to troubleshoot issues and refine product development.
- Confirm material sizing and availability, and communicate material needs to support production timelines.
- Maintain accurate program numbering and documentation aligned with customer and internal specifications.
- Perform additional duties as needed to support manufacturing operations.
CNC Lathe Programmer Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years of hands-on programming experience using both MasterCam (2020 or newer) and Esprit.
- Strong working knowledge of GD&T principles, blueprint reading, and tolerance interpretation.
- Demonstrated experience programming and planning complex, tight-tolerance components.
- Background as a CNC lathe machinist strongly preferred.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining high productivity and accuracy.
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Proven reliability, strong work ethic, and consistent attendance.
Salary: $72K-$87K/year. (DOE)
