CFO Consultant (Part-Time)
Our client is seeking a highly experienced, client-facing financial consultant who operates as a trusted advisor to business owners and leadership teams. This individual will bring a blend of strategic insight, financial rigor, and strong interpersonal judgment, helping organizations strengthen performance, improve visibility, and reduce operational risk. The ideal candidate is proactive, adaptable, and comfortable navigating both high-level advisory work and detailed financial analysis.

This role is a hybrid model in Portland, Oregon working part-time hours.

CFO Consultant Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic financial guidance, including performance analysis, financial modeling, and forward-looking recommendations to support growth, scalability, and profitability.
  • Establish, refine, and monitor financial policies, procedures, and internal controls designed to safeguard assets and enhance reporting accuracy.
  • Lead budgeting, forecasting, and what-if scenario modeling to assist leadership with planning and decision-making.
  • Oversee and enhance period-end close processes and management reporting to improve efficiency, timeliness, and financial visibility.
  • Analyze financial results, working capital drivers, cash flows, and key performance indicators, delivering clear narrative insights to stakeholders.

CFO Consultant Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance is required. An MBA or advanced business education is highly desirable.
  • 10 or more years of relevant experience in financial leadership, consulting, or controllership environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to advise executives and business owners on financial strategy, operational efficiency, and risk management.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking capabilities, with sound professional judgment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to present complex concepts clearly to diverse audiences.
