CAD Drafter
Our client is seeking a detail-oriented CAD Drafter to support precision sheet metal manufacturing by developing accurate machine programs, layouts, and production-ready drawings. This role is ideal for someone who understands how digital designs translate into efficient fabrication workflows and thrives in a fast-moving production environment.
This role is onsite in Milwaukie, Oregon.
CAD Drafter Responsibilities
- Develop and optimize laser and punch programs using customer-provided PDF and 3D model files.
- Create efficient nests and flat pattern layouts to maximize material utilization and machine productivity.
- Prepare programs and related drawings for laser systems and punch/laser combination equipment.
- Interpret engineering files and transform them into accurate, manufacturable outputs.
- Collaborate closely with production and engineering teams to ensure designs align with shop capabilities.
- Review and adjust layouts or programs to resolve manufacturing or quality concerns.
- Maintain organized documentation and follow established programming and drafting standards.
CAD Drafter Qualifications
- 2 years of hands-on experience with SolidWorks.
- Strong understanding of sheet metal fabrication, including flat patterns and part layouts.
- Practical knowledge of laser cutting processes and related manufacturing constraints.
- Ability to work confidently with customer-supplied design files and technical drawings.
- Experience with nesting software such as SigmaNest is a plus.
- Consistent and reliable attendance record.
- Comfortable working in a collaborative, fast-paced team environment.
Salary: $26-$30/hr. + Bonus. (DOE)
