Billing Appeals Specialist (Remote)
Our client is seeking a highly detail-oriented and analytical Billing Appeals Specialist who thrives in structured, compliance-driven environments. This individual brings a calm, solutions-focused approach to complex reimbursement and billing issues while collaborating seamlessly across clinical, claims, and operational teams. Success in this role requires strong judgment, precision, and the ability to manage sensitive information with professionalism and care.

This role is fully remote working PST hours. Applicants based in Idaho are preferred, with consideration given to applicants located in Oregon, Washington, or Utah, and elsewhere within the United States.

Billing Appeals Specialist Responsibilities

• Review, analyze, and process provider billing disputes and appeals in accordance with contracts, regulatory requirements, and internal policies.
• Coordinate non-clinical appeal determinations and facilitate clinical reviews with licensed professionals when required.
• Prepare, document, and communicate appeal decisions clearly to providers, members, and external entities.
• Manage appeal cases through intake, analysis, decision, closure, and external review while meeting strict timelines.
• Maintain accurate records, reports, and documentation across multiple systems while supporting quality and compliance standards.

Billing Appeals Specialist Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience within health insurance, claims processing, billing, appeals, or related healthcare operations.
• Strong working knowledge of medical terminology, coding standards (CPT, HCPCS, ICD), and reimbursement principles.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain complex information diplomatically.
• Proven ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and maintain accuracy in a high-volume environment.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools and the ability to learn and navigate multiple internal systems efficiently.

Compensation: $21-$28/hr. (DOE)
