Our client is seeking an IT & Automation Manager to lead the company’s AI adoption and help shape a secure, well-governed technology environment. This hands-on, in-person role suits a versatile generalist who is equally comfortable setting strategy and rolling up their sleeves to support day-to-day IT needs.

This role is on-site in Redmond, Oregon.

IT & Automation Manager Responsibilities

  • Evaluate, pilot, and deploy AI tools to improve business operations, including building a secure, company-controlled AI environment for employees.
  • Develop AI governance policies, security controls, and responsible usage guidelines that support compliance requirements.
  • Support and maintain ongoing CMMC compliance efforts, including documentation, policy implementation, employee training, and long-term compliance upkeep.
  • Manage the relationship with the external managed service provider, including tracking and following through on support tickets, projects, and service timelines.
  • Provide hands-on technical support for hardware, software, user accounts, printers, displays, peripheral devices, and Microsoft 365 applications.
  • Manage IT asset inventory, including equipment tracking, asset tagging, and inventory records.
  • Manage user access, security permissions, system provisioning, and employee onboarding and offboarding.
  • Design and implement automation solutions that streamline workflows, reduce manual data entry, and increase efficiency.
  • Partner with business leaders to identify technology-driven process improvements and deliver practical, scalable solutions.
  • Support backup, disaster recovery, and cybersecurity best practices, and help identify and remediate potential vulnerabilities.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, standard operating procedures, and training materials.
  • Assist with technology procurement, software licensing, and hardware lifecycle management.
  • Monitor emerging AI and automation technologies and recommend solutions that fit business needs and security requirements.

IT & Automation Manager Qualifications

  • Hands-on experience evaluating, implementing, or supporting AI tools, with strong familiarity with ChatGPT and similar platforms and a clear understanding of how to use them securely in a business setting.
  • 2+ years of experience in IT support, systems administration, or a related technology role, ideally in a small or mid-sized company where responsibilities are broad and varied.
  • Proven ability to balance strategic oversight with hands-on, day-to-day tasks, working independently and taking ownership of both large initiatives and routine work.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft 365, Windows operating systems, Active Directory, user account management, hardware troubleshooting, and help desk ticketing systems.
  • Experience managing or coordinating with third-party IT vendors and keeping multiple projects and support requests on track.
  • Familiarity with cybersecurity frameworks, regulated environments, or CMMC compliance is highly valued. Candidates willing to grow into ongoing compliance responsibilities will be considered.
  • Working knowledge of networking fundamentals, endpoint support, cloud-based technologies, and backup and disaster recovery procedures.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify process improvement opportunities and implement automation solutions.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a collaborative, team-oriented approach and the ability to work effectively across departments.
  • Prior in-person or on-site work experience is preferred. Manufacturing experience is not required.
  • Relevant certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+, or Microsoft certifications are a plus.
