Data Engineer
Our client is seeking an experienced Data Engineer to support a high-performing data organization focused on developing scalable data capabilities, tools, and products. This role will provide critical team coverage while contributing to new data solutions, platform enhancements, and initiatives designed to improve business performance, profitability, and margins. The ideal candidate brings deep data engineering expertise, strong communication skills, and hands-on experience with modern cloud and big data technologies.

This role is on-site in Beaverton, Oregon.

Data Engineer Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and enhance scalable data products, pipelines, and capabilities using Databricks, Spark, Python, Snowflake, and SQL.
  • Partner with product owners, analysts, engineers, and business stakeholders to translate business needs into reliable and maintainable data solutions.
  • Contribute to data architecture, engineering frameworks, and design patterns supporting the processing and storage of large-scale datasets.
  • Develop distributed data processing solutions, reusable utilities, libraries, and frameworks that improve data movement and engineering efficiency.
  • Support the development of new data products and capabilities that provide actionable insights and contribute to improved profitability and business performance.
  • Participate in AI-focused initiatives and leverage emerging AI tools and technologies to enhance data engineering processes and solutions.
  • Evaluate and adopt appropriate technologies, tools, and frameworks for high-volume data processing and evolving business requirements.
  • Build automated testing into data solutions and support continuous integration, deployment, and engineering quality practices.
  • Troubleshoot complex data, operational, and performance issues, performing root cause analysis and collaborating across teams to implement sustainable resolutions.
  • Work within an Agile environment to translate backlog priorities into executable engineering work and deliver solutions across multiple concurrent initiatives.

Data Engineer Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related technical discipline is required.
  • 10+ years of professional experience in data engineering, software engineering, data development, or a closely related technical field is strongly preferred.
  • Advanced hands-on experience with Databricks, Apache Spark, Python, Snowflake, and SQL.
  • Experience designing and developing large-scale data pipelines, distributed processing solutions, and data warehousing environments.
  • Demonstrated experience using AI tools and contributing to AI-related initiatives within a data or engineering environment.
  • Strong understanding of cloud-based data platforms and services, preferably within AWS environments.
  • Experience with data orchestration, streaming or messaging technologies, source control, automated testing, and CI/CD practices.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across technical and business teams.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with demonstrated success delivering multiple priorities in a fast-paced Agile environment.
  • Experience with finance-related data, business processes, or financial domains is highly preferred.
  • Experience with data analytics, reporting, or business intelligence tools is highly preferred.
  • AWS and/or Databricks certifications are a plus but are not required.

Compensation: Up to $73/hr. (DOE)
