Inventory Planner
Our client is seeking an analytical and detail-oriented Inventory Planner to support a fast-paced direct-to-consumer retail environment. This individual will play a key role in ensuring the right products are delivered to the right locations at the right time, balancing data-driven decision making with strong cross-functional collaboration. The ideal candidate is a proactive problem solver with a strong foundation in retail planning and a passion for optimizing inventory performance.
This role is a hybrid model in Boston, Massachusetts.
Inventory Planner Responsibilities
- Allocate inventory across retail and digital channels at the style, color, and size level to support sales performance and product strategies.
- Analyze sales trends, inventory levels, and product performance to inform allocation decisions and improve overall inventory productivity.
- Develop and execute weekly inventory flow and replenishment strategies to align with seasonal demand and business objectives.
- Partner with cross-functional teams including buying, planning, and supply chain to align on inventory strategies, forecasts, and priorities.
- Monitor store-level performance, capacity constraints, and segmentation data to optimize inventory distribution and address risks or opportunities.
- Support forecasting and shipment planning for key product launches and peak seasons, ensuring timely and accurate execution.
- Communicate regularly with store teams and internal partners to assess inventory needs and resolve allocation challenges.
Inventory Planner Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Minimum of 2+ years of experience in inventory planning, allocation, or a related retail function.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and strong working knowledge of MS Office tools.
- Solid understanding of retail math concepts and their application in planning and allocation.
- Demonstrated ability to think strategically while executing tactically in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and translate insights into actionable decisions.
- Effective communication skills with the ability to collaborate across teams and influence stakeholders.
- Detail-oriented, solution-focused, and a team player with a continuous improvement mindset.
Compensation: Up to $38/hr. (DOE)
