Platform Engineer
Our client is seeking a Platform Engineer to help design and maintain a cloud-native observability platform that supports large-scale digital systems. This role will focus on building and operating Kubernetes-based infrastructure, enabling visibility and reliability across distributed environments. The ideal candidate brings strong experience in cloud platforms, observability tooling, and modern platform engineering practices.

This role is a hybrid model in Beaverton, Oregon.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to the design, development, and operation of a Kubernetes-based observability platform supporting enterprise-scale systems.
• Develop and maintain infrastructure components using modern platform engineering practices such as GitOps and infrastructure-as-code.
• Build and manage Kubernetes controllers, configurations, and platform services that support monitoring and reliability across distributed systems.
• Implement observability tooling and dashboards to provide actionable insights into system performance and availability.
• Collaborate with product and engineering teams to deliver platform capabilities aligned with technical requirements and acceptance criteria.
• Promote best practices in platform architecture, including security, reliability, scalability, and operational excellence.
• Provide technical mentorship and support to less experienced engineers.
• Participate in operational support rotations to assist internal engineering teams using the platform.
• Contribute to engineering standards, documentation, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field preferred.
• 5+ years of relevant experience in platform engineering, infrastructure engineering, or software development.
• Hands-on experience operating Kubernetes-based environments in production.
• Strong experience with cloud platforms, preferably AWS.
• Expertise with observability and monitoring tools such as Grafana or similar platforms.
• Solid understanding of networking fundamentals and distributed system architecture.
• Experience building or operating large-scale systems in cloud environments.
• Strong collaboration and communication skills with the ability to work across engineering teams.

Preferred

• Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA) certification.
• Experience in Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) or reliability-focused engineering roles.
• Experience with Crossplane, GitOps tools such as ArgoCD, or infrastructure-as-code solutions.
• Familiarity with high-performance data platforms such as ClickHouse.
• Experience building platform capabilities that support enterprise workloads and governance standards.

Compensation: Up to $58.67/hr. (DOE)
