Lead Software Engineer – Developer Platform & Tooling
Our client is seeking a Lead Software Engineer to provide technical leadership and platform ownership across modern developer tooling and AI-assisted engineering workflows. This individual will operate as a senior technical authority, guiding architecture, governance, and integrations for core development platforms while remaining deeply hands-on. The ideal candidate blends strong engineering fundamentals, platform thinking, and the ability to lead within a highly collaborative environment.
This role is a hybrid model in Beaverton, Oregon.
Lead Software Engineer Responsibilities
- Lead technical direction, standards, and best practices for developer platforms, tooling, and automation frameworks.
- Administer and optimize GitHub environments, including governance, workflows, permissions, and system integrations.
- Support and enhance AI-enabled development tooling, ensuring secure, scalable, and reliable usage patterns.
- Design and maintain CI/CD-related integrations, automation, and developer productivity solutions.
- Contribute directly to backend services, tooling, and platform utilities using Golang, Python, and TypeScript.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to align tooling capabilities with security, compliance, and operational requirements.
- Drive evaluation, adoption, and operationalization of emerging developer technologies and workflows.
- Provide technical mentorship and leadership across a distributed engineering ecosystem.
- Develop dashboards, automation, and reporting mechanisms to improve platform visibility and efficiency.
- Collaborate with peer engineering teams to improve developer experience and platform reliability.
Lead Software Engineer Qualifications
- 10+ years of professional experience in software engineering roles with demonstrated technical leadership.
- Strong expertise in GitHub administration, configuration, and ecosystem management.
- Hands-on development experience using Golang and Python.
- Familiarity with CI/CD concepts, build pipelines, and automation practices.
- Experience working with AI-assisted development tools or intelligent coding workflows.
- Solid understanding of modern software delivery practices and developer productivity tooling.
- Ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly across technical and non-technical audiences.
- Collaborative mindset with a track record of working across multiple teams or stakeholder groups.
- Degree in Computer Science or related field preferred, but not required.
- Exposure to Kubernetes, containerized development, or platform engineering concepts is a plus.
- Relevant certifications, including GitHub-related credentials, are advantageous but not required.
Compensation: Up to $74/hr. (DOE)
