The ideal candidate is a technically strong systems professional who thrives in demanding environments requiring reliability, precision, and cross-functional collaboration.
This position is primarily remote; however, candidates must reside within reasonable commuting distance of Hillsboro, Oregon, and be available for occasional onsite support as business needs require.
Server Administrator Responsibilities

- Diagnose and resolve infrastructure and system issues affecting HPC operations, including Linux- and Windows-based components.
- Plan and coordinate server, storage, and hardware maintenance events, including scheduling and execution of maintenance windows.
- Collaborate with technical teams, support personnel, and project stakeholders to facilitate application and system deployments.
- Provide remote systems support and participate in a rotational on-call schedule to maintain operational continuity.
- Contribute to infrastructure modernization efforts, operational initiatives, and continuous improvement activities.
- Maintain accurate technical documentation, procedures, and operational records.
Server Administrator Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical discipline required. Equivalent combinations of education, certifications, and directly related experience may be considered.
- Minimum of 8 years of experience supporting enterprise systems within complex, multi-technology IT environments.
- Strong expertise in Linux operating systems and networking within high-performance, high-availability infrastructures.
- Experience supporting enterprise-class server hardware platforms (such as HPE, Dell, or comparable vendors).
- Solid understanding of networking fundamentals, including LAN/WAN, firewall, and VPN technologies.
- Hands-on experience with enterprise storage, backup, and recovery technologies.
- Strong understanding of SAN architectures, including iSCSI and Fibre Channel in multi-path environments.
- Demonstrated ability to create clear, structured, and accurate technical documentation.
- Proven ability to communicate effectively with cross-functional technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience with scripting or automation using technologies such as Bash, PowerShell, or similar tools.
- Relevant systems certifications (e.g., RHCSA, VCP, or comparable credentials) strongly preferred.
- Must be eligible to work under applicable U.S. Department of Energy regulatory requirements, including 10 CFR Part 810.
Preferred:
- Experience administering hybrid on-premises and cloud-based infrastructure environments.
- Familiarity with containerization technologies and modern application platforms.
