WebMethods Integration Developer
Our client is seeking a WebMethods Integration Developer to support a portfolio of large-scale, technology-driven initiatives. This role will focus on designing, building, and maintaining enterprise integrations and APIs that connect core business systems, support capital projects, and enable secure, reliable data exchange across the organization. The ideal candidate brings deep hands-on experience with the webMethods platform, strong integration architecture skills, and the ability to collaborate closely with IT and business stakeholders in a regulated environment.
This role is a hybrid model in Sacramento, California.
WebMethods Integration Developer Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain RESTful and SOAP-based APIs to enable integration between enterprise systems such as ERP, GIS, asset management, project controls, and document management platforms.
- Build and support integrations across legacy systems, cloud-based solutions, and approved third-party applications using webMethods and related middleware technologies.
- Implement secure authentication and authorization mechanisms, including OAuth 2.0, JWT, SAML, or equivalent enterprise-approved standards.
- Ensure all integrations meet cybersecurity, compliance, and industry best practices, including encryption, audit logging, and alignment with recognized security frameworks.
- Develop solutions with high availability, scalability, fault tolerance, and performance benchmarks appropriate for mission-critical processes.
- Implement robust error handling, transaction management, logging, and monitoring to support operational stability and troubleshooting.
- Produce clear, comprehensive technical documentation, including API specifications and integration design artifacts, and support knowledge transfer activities.
- Develop and execute testing strategies, including unit, integration, system, and user acceptance testing, with support for automated regression testing where applicable.
- Collaborate closely with internal IT teams, business partners, and project stakeholders to ensure integration solutions align with organizational goals and timelines.
WebMethods Integration Developer Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of professional experience designing and implementing integrations using the webMethods integration platform.
- At least 2 years of hands-on experience with webMethods.IO or webMethods Cloud Integration (Integration Cloud).
- Proven experience developing SAP integrations, including SAP RFC (Remote Function Call) interfaces.
- Strong experience building custom integration services using Java.
- Advanced proficiency with core webMethods components, including Integration Server, Universal Messaging, API Gateway, and Trading Networks.
- Experience developing, versioning, and documenting APIs using standardized approaches such as OpenAPI/Swagger.
- Solid understanding of secure software development practices, identity and access management, and enterprise integration security.
- Ability to work independently at a senior level while collaborating effectively within cross-functional technical and business teams.
Preferred:
- Relevant technical certifications related to integration, APIs, or cloud platforms (e.g., Software AG webMethods, MuleSoft, AWS, Azure, or similar).
- Prior experience supporting large, complex IT initiatives in regulated environments such as utilities, energy, or the public sector.
- Familiarity with automated testing tools, performance tuning, and enterprise monitoring strategies for integrations.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to translate technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders.
Compensation: $65–$85/hr. (DOE)
