Timekeeping Specialist
Our client is seeking a Timekeeping Specialist to support accurate employee time and payroll processing within a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This role plays a critical part in ensuring timekeeping accuracy, resolving employee pay issues, and coordinating closely with payroll, HR, and plant leadership. The position is customer-facing and requires strong attention to detail, clear communication, and a service-oriented mindset.
This role is a three month contract onsite in Cleveland, North Carolina.
Timekeeping Specialist Responsibilities
- Administer employee time and attendance transactions across multiple systems, including auditing, reviewing, and validating time records for accuracy.
- Coordinate the flow of employee time, schedule, and job data to centralized payroll and workforce administration teams.
- Maintain employee leave balances, including vacation, sick time, PTO, and holiday calendars.
- Process pay adjustments, corrections, and discrepancies while investigating and resolving employee time or pay issues.
- Communicate directly with supervisors, managers, and employees regarding timekeeping questions, exceptions, and attendance matters.
- Track and report attendance activity and maintain accurate attendance control records.
- Process shift changes, labor pool assignments, workstation changes, and temporary rate adjustments as needed.
- Update manager, supervisor, schedule, and job assignment changes within timekeeping systems.
- Prepare and distribute labor, headcount, and attendance reporting for HR and plant leadership.
- Maintain employee payroll and HR files and provide customer service support for payroll, timekeeping, and benefits-related inquiries.
- Administer non-union disability pay processing and recordkeeping.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and assist with implementing system or workflow enhancements.
Timekeeping Specialist Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
- Prior experience in customer service, HR administration, or a related operational support role.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including professional email etiquette.
- Demonstrated ability to manage confidential information with accuracy and discretion.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and the Microsoft Office suite.
- Ability to work collaboratively, think critically, and contribute to continuous process improvement.
- Experience with timekeeping, payroll, or finance functions is preferred.
- Familiarity with Workday and workforce management systems (such as UKG/Kronos) is a plus.
- Previous experience supporting employees in a manufacturing or plant environment is beneficial.
Compensation: $17.75/hr.
