Field Service Maintenance Technician
Our client is seeking a skilled and self-directed Field Service Maintenance Technician to support a regional equipment sales and service operation. This non-exempt, customer-facing role is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining diesel and heavy equipment at customer locations, while serving as a professional and trusted representative in the field. Work is primarily field-based during peak seasons, with a mix of shop and field work during slower months.
This role is onsite in McMinnville, Oregon.
Field Service Maintenance Technician Responsibilities
- Perform advanced diagnostics, preventative maintenance, and repairs on diesel-powered and heavy equipment at customer sites.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical system issues.
- Communicate clearly and professionally with customers regarding findings, repairs, timelines, and recommended follow-up work.
- Work independently in the field while meeting productivity, quality, and safety expectations.
- Complete accurate service reports, documentation, and work orders in a timely manner.
- Maintain tools, service vehicle, and equipment in safe and working condition.
- Support and mentor less experienced technicians as needed.
- Participate in ongoing training, certifications, and skill development initiatives.
Field Service Maintenance Technician Qualifications
- 3–5+ years of hands-on experience servicing diesel engines or heavy equipment.
- Strong diagnostic capabilities across mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems.
- Ability to work autonomously in a field-based environment with minimal supervision.
- Customer-focused mindset with strong communication and problem-solving skills.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Valid driver’s license; ability to operate a company service vehicle.
- Industry certifications (or the ability to obtain them) preferred.
- Medical card preferred.
Compensation: $35-$50/hr. (DOE)
