Network Engineer III
Our client is seeking a senior-level Network Engineer III to support and maintain a large-scale enterprise network environment with a strong focus on day-to-day network operations. This role is responsible for ensuring the stability, performance, and security of a complex network supporting hundreds of distributed locations. The ideal candidate brings deep hands-on experience in network monitoring, incident response, troubleshooting, and change management, and is comfortable operating in a fast-paced, operationally driven environment.

This role is onsite. Candidates must be located in or able to commute to Hillsboro, OR; Spokane, WA; Liberty Lake, WA; Tacoma, WA; Denver, CO; Salem, OR; or Scottsdale, AZ.

Network Engineer III Responsibilities

  • Lead incident response efforts, including advanced troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and resolution of complex network issues.
  • Monitor, support, and maintain enterprise branch connectivity across a large, geographically distributed network footprint.
  • Perform daily operational network tasks involving routers, switches, firewalls, and load balancers in a primarily Cisco-based environment.
  • Configure, deploy, and maintain network devices, ensuring adherence to established standards and change management processes.
  • Support routing and switching platforms including Catalyst, ISR/ASR, and Nexus devices.
  • Monitor network performance, bandwidth utilization, and availability, proactively identifying and addressing potential issues.
  • Support firewall, wireless, and network security technologies, including controllers, access points, and SSID configurations.
  • Administer WAN technologies such as MPLS, SD-WAN, VPNs, and internet circuits.
  • Maintain accurate network documentation, configurations, and reporting.
  • Coordinate with service providers and vendors to troubleshoot circuit outages and performance issues.
  • Participate in change planning, implementation, and post-change validation.
  • Contribute to operational improvements, automation initiatives, and scripting efforts where applicable.
  • Provide technical guidance, mentoring, or informal leadership to other network team members as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with internal policies, procedures, and applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Network Engineer III Qualifications

  • Extensive experience supporting enterprise network operations in a senior-level or Tier 3 capacity.
  • Strong hands-on expertise with Cisco routing and switching technologies.
  • Advanced knowledge of network protocols including BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, STP, VLANs, QoS, VRF, HSRP, and DHCP.
  • Proven experience supporting large-scale branch networks and distributed environments.
  • Solid understanding of WAN architectures, including SD-WAN, MPLS, VPN, and internet-based connectivity.
  • Experience with firewall, wireless, and network security technologies.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage incidents, perform root cause analysis, and execute change management processes.
  • Experience working with data center networking equipment and architectures.
  • Familiarity with network monitoring tools, performance analysis, and troubleshooting methodologies.
  • Exposure to network automation or scripting tools such as Python, Ansible, or similar technologies is preferred.
  • Working knowledge of cloud networking concepts, including Microsoft Azure, is preferred.
  • Strong documentation, communication, and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to operate independently while contributing effectively within a team environment.
  • High school diploma or GED required; bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field preferred.

Compensation: $40-$50/hr. (DOE)
