Materials Designer (Apparel)
This role is ideal for a highly organized materials designer with a strong instinct for fashion, performance, and brand storytelling. The ideal candidate brings a refined design eye, thrives across multiple fast-moving projects, and confidently translates cultural and consumer insights into compelling material narratives. Success in this role requires equal parts creative vision, technical fluency, and collaborative agility.
This role is a hybrid model in Beaverton, Oregon.
Materials Designer (Apparel) Responsibilities
- Lead the design and development of material concepts, palettes, and strategies across multiple performance-focused product projects.
- Translate seasonal creative direction into cohesive, consumer-relevant material executions.
- Maintain hands-on involvement throughout the product creation lifecycle, from concept through development.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional partners to align materials with design, performance, and brand intent.
- Balance competing priorities and timelines while maintaining high design quality and consistency.
Materials Designer (Apparel) Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Design, Art, or a related field.
- 3–5 years of experience in a design environment working with materials, textiles, and/or color.
- Proven experience in materials design within lifestyle or performance product categories.
- Strong visual communication, presentation skills, and proficiency in digital design and CAD tools.
- Highly organized, self-directed, and comfortable navigating ambiguity in a fast-paced environment.
Compensation: Up to $42.67/hr. (DOE)
