Behavioral Health UM Clinician
Our client is seeking a seasoned Behavioral Health Utilization Management Clinician who blends strong clinical judgment with thoughtful collaboration and clear communication. This individual thrives in fast-paced, regulated environments and brings a balanced approach to decision-making, documentation, and service excellence. The ideal candidate is organized, adaptable, and trusted by both clinical and operational partners.
This role is fully remote. Applicants must work PST hours with occasional weekend shifts and be located in Oregon, Washington, Idaho or Utah.
Behavioral Health UM Clinician Responsibilities
- Conduct prospective, concurrent, and retrospective utilization reviews to assess medical necessity and alignment with established guidelines
- Apply evidence-based clinical criteria and exercise sound judgment when making determinations, escalating to physician advisors as appropriate
- Partner closely with interdisciplinary teams to support care coordination and timely resolution of complex cases
- Deliver responsive, professional support to internal and external stakeholders, serving as a reliable clinical resource
- Maintain accurate, compliant documentation while managing priorities to meet quality, productivity, and regulatory standards
Behavioral Health UM Clinician Qualifications
- Master’s degree in a behavioral health discipline with independent clinical licensure in good standing
- Minimum of three years of behavioral health utilization management or care management experience
- At least three years of direct clinical experience in advanced behavioral health settings (e.g., inpatient, residential, partial hospitalization)
- Active, unrestricted independent clinical licensure in WA, OR, ID, or UT, with the ability and willingness to obtain and maintain licensure in additional states as required
- Strong critical thinking, communication, and organizational skills, with comfort navigating technology and electronic health systems
