Medical Reports Editor
Our client is seeking a detail-driven Medical Reports Editor to support the quality, accuracy, and compliance of medical review documentation used in insurance and claims-related determinations. This role is ideal for someone with experience in medical, legal, or insurance environments who brings a strong command of medical terminology, written communication, and quality assurance standards. The Medical Reports Editor plays a critical role in ensuring reports meet professional, regulatory, and client-specific requirements while supporting internal teams through clarification and follow-up.

This role is fully remote with a preference for applicants who reside in California.

Medical Reports Editor Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive quality reviews of medical reports, correspondence, addenda, and supplemental materials prior to finalization.
  • Edit and proofread reports for grammatical accuracy, clarity, medical terminology usage, and overall content integrity.
  • Verify that clinical conclusions and recommendations are supported by clear, objective, and evidence-based rationales.
  • Ensure all client instructions, specifications, and case questions have been fully addressed and documented.
  • Confirm that clinical citations and references are included when required, are current, and originate from reputable medical publications or journals.
  • Review reports for consistency, formatting, and professional presentation in alignment with internal quality standards.
  • Validate that appropriate medical board specialties are assigned and documented in accordance with client requirements and applicable regulations.
  • Confirm reviewer attestations are accurate and that no conflicts of interest are present within the report.
  • Identify discrepancies or ambiguities within reports and coordinate with medical providers to obtain clarification or corrections as needed.
  • Respond to internal inquiries and provide ongoing editorial and quality support to the department.

Medical Reports Editor Qualifications

  • Minimum of two years of experience supporting medical, insurance, or claims-related documentation, preferably within workers’ compensation, bodily injury, liability, no-fault, or disability contexts.
  • Demonstrated familiarity with medical-legal reporting processes such as IME, QME, permanent and stationary evaluations, or related review workflows.
  • Strong working knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, medications, and common laboratory values.
  • Proficiency with standard office software, including Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, and web-based tools.
  • Exceptional written communication skills, including grammar, punctuation, spelling, and professional writing style.
  • Proven ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities and meeting deadlines.
  • High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and commitment to quality.
  • Ability to adapt to shifting priorities, process updates, and time-sensitive requests.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

Salary: $70K-$104K/year. (DOE)
