CNC Laser and/or Punch Programmer
Our client is seeking a CNC Laser and/or Punch Programmer to develop accurate cutting programs and nesting layouts for high-precision sheet metal production. This role supports complex manufacturing workflows by transforming customer design files into efficient, machine-ready instructions while collaborating closely with engineering and production teams.
This role is onsite in Milwaukie, Oregon.
CNC Laser and/or Punch Programmer Responsibilities
- Develop CNC programs and nesting layouts for laser and punch/laser combination equipment, ensuring optimal material utilization and cut quality.
- Interpret customer CAD files (PDF, STP, etc.) to build accurate flat-pattern models and machine-ready toolpaths.
- Create and manage nests for laser systems using platforms such as Bystronic and Amada units.
- Produce CNC programs for punch/laser combo machines (e.g., Amada EMLK) to support diverse production needs.
- Partner with engineering and fabrication teams to resolve design questions, optimize manufacturability, and maintain production accuracy.
- Maintain organized documentation for programs, revisions, and nests to support smooth handoffs across teams.
- Contribute to continuous improvement efforts by identifying opportunities to streamline programming workflows.
CNC Laser and/or Punch Programmer Qualifications
- Minimum two years of SolidWorks experience with the ability to interpret and modify 3D and flat-pattern designs.
- Strong understanding of sheet metal manufacturing processes, fabrication methods, and material behavior.
- Working knowledge of flat-pattern development and laser processing techniques.
- Familiarity with SigmaNest nesting software is highly beneficial.
- Proven ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented production environment.
- Excellent reliability and attendance history.
Compensation: $26-$30/hr + Potential Bonus (DOE)
