VP of Engineering
The VP of Engineering will be responsible for managing US development and engineering teams. This individual will be expected to exert technical and personal leadership to ensure that products provide high quality, robust, innovative solutions that leverage offerings of our key partners and provide significant value to our customers. In addition, they are responsible for the overall efficiency and career growth of engineering managers and team leads. They will be responsible for identifying and implementing process improvements, in addition to supervisory responsibilities for the smooth day-to-day operations of engineering teams.
This position is onsite in Beaverton, OR.
VP of Engineering Responsibilities
Provide leadership for our Engineering teams to ensure productivity and quality of research & development, QA, and product releases.
Working with our sales & marketing teams as well as the product owners within engineering to ensure we continue to deliver engineering excellence.
Ensure adherence to Engineering Best Practices that ensure that software is world-class in quality and that our methodologies are consistent across all product groups.
Work closely with upper management to report status and implement process improvement strategies including: conflict management, balancing cross-functional issues, and handling sensitive customer escalations.
Mentorship of Managers and Team Leads to grow company leadership strengths; develop performance goals and recommendations for improving the overall quality and productivity of teams.
Identify opportunities for product innovation (partner with SVP) based on capabilities of our products and the evolving capabilities and needs of the markets we serve.
Working with the VP of Engineering (Taiwan).
Excellent written and oral communication skills, including experience presenting to executive leadership.
VP of Engineering Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have a broad base of technical knowledge in PC and non-PC devices and platforms, in addition to an understanding of software development methodologies. They must be technically strong enough to command respect not only with the engineering staff within the company, but with technical leaders in the industry. They must also have strong leadership/mentoring, communication, and interpersonal skills that make them effective in a multi-function organization.
Specific qualifications include:
BS in Engineering Software Development or relevant field required, MS/MBA preferred.
15 or more years in engineering and engineering management positions, experienced in people management and development.
Technical experience in enterprise software, firmware, operating systems and applications for PC and non-PC devices.
Ability to establish and manage processes and controls to ensure quality of product and repeatability of practices.
Excels at adapting to changing business needs with the ability to balance multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to lead by influence and example, including strong communication skills; enjoys a collaborative, technical environment.
Excellent planning and organization skills.
Intellectually curious and passionate about product excellence and innovative technologies.
In depth understanding of x-86 PC and ARM architecture, Windows and Linux operating environments, is a plus.
