Technical Accounting Manager
our client seeks an experienced and detail-oriented Manager of Technical Accounting to drive research, analysis, and documentation on complex accounting transactions. This role is on-site in Houston, Texas.
Due to the nature of this role and immediate business needs, we are only considering candidates currently residing in Houston, Texas and the surrounding area.

Technical Accounting Manager Responsibilities:

  • Lead research and preparation of white papers for non-routine transactions under ASC 805, ASC 842, ASC 470, ASC 450, ASC 718, and ASC 815.
  • Document detailed analyses and conclusions on complex revenue contracts under ASC 606, including bespoke, long-term contracts.
  • Analyze and document supplier contracts, goodwill, intangibles, and inventory for impairment.
  • Collaborate with internal teams (e.g., project management, procurement) to understand the nuances of revenue and supplier contracts.
  • Evaluate the impact of emerging U.S. GAAP standards on the company’s transactions and 10-Q/10-K disclosures.
  • Serve as a key point of contact for external auditors, coordinating timely reviews of all white papers.
  • Perform other ad-hoc duties as needed to support technical accounting and compliance efforts.

Technical Accounting Manager Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field; CPA or CMA highly preferred.
  • At least 7 years of experience in technical accounting, with a minimum of 5 years in a Big 4 firm.
  • Strong experience researching and documenting complex accounting treatments under U.S. GAAP standards.
  • Expertise in analyzing long-term contracts, goodwill, and impairment assessments.
  • Proven ability to lead and collaborate across departments, including project management and procurement.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex accounting issues clearly.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and deadlines.

Salary: $135k-$150k (DOE)
