Senior Design Construction Manager
Our client is seeking a Senior Design Construction Manager to lead capital projects within a healthcare setting. The role requires a hands-on leader who can drive project success through effective collaboration, clear communication, and strong oversight of construction activities.
This role is fully onsite in Napa, California.
Senior Design Construction Manager Responsibilities
- Deliver capital projects supporting key regional and system-wide initiatives.
- Lead project teams, ensuring that key deliverables and deadlines are met.
- Oversee complex projects and manage third-party vendors effectively.
- Provide leadership and management to meet construction project goals.
- Review project reports for accuracy, completeness, and adherence to standards.
- Communicate technical standards to the construction management team.
- Develop, review, and maintain project budgets and as-built cost data.
- Create and manage RFPs for architectural and general construction services.
- Facilitate design meetings with architectural, end-user teams, and oversee construction (OAC) meetings.
- Review design documents for quality, constructability, and compliance with local requirements.
- Develop infection control procedures in collaboration with safety and accreditation teams, ensuring compliance during construction.
- Approve architectural add services, construction change orders, invoices, and pay applications.
- Manage preconstruction and construction project milestone schedules.
- Ensure the quality and timely completion of work by architects and contractors, maintaining financial stewardship.
- Communicate project progress, changes, and impacts clearly with vendors, internal teams, and senior leadership.
- Inspect construction progress for conformance to design documents and contractual requirements.
- Oversee procurement and installation of FF&E, coordinating moves with internal and external teams.
- Ensure timely completion of the construction punch list and finalize project close-out documentation.
Senior Design Construction Manager Qualifications
- 7+ years of experience in construction management.
- 4+ years of healthcare-specific construction management experience.
- 3+ years of supervisory experience managing direct reports and third-party vendors.
- Experience with land use practices across diverse geographic portfolios.
- Strong financial analysis and negotiation skills for architectural and construction proposals.
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Project Management, Business Administration, or equivalent experience.
- Valid driver’s license and proof of insurance (required upon request).
Additional Requirements:
- This role is based in a hospital setting and requires daily onsite presence.
- Candidates must reside within a commutable distance from the specified location.
- Willingness to travel frequently within a defined region as needed.
- Flexibility to work weekends occasionally, as determined by management needs.
Salary: $145k-$233k/year. (DOE)
