Senior Architect
Our office in Merritt Island, Florida is looking for a Senior Architect to assist with expanding our services to include in-house architecture to augment our current civil, environmental and MEP. The candidate would join the Merritt Island office as the Architectural Lead and project architect but would be backed up by over 60 architects in the organization. As our local architectural workshare grows, we are committed to grow the department to include additional architects and designers that will be managed by this candidate. The typical industries served are design, construction and assessment engineering for the Federal Government as well as commercial and Federal aerospace communities.
This is an onsite position.
Senior Architect Responsibilities:
Architecture Design Services (60%):
Participate in conceptual, schematic and design development phases of projects.
Participate in and lead conceptual, schematic and design development phases of projects.
Prepare and produce architectural design and analysis in accordance with NFPA 101 and local building codes and interface with client and authorities having jurisdiction.
Prepare, produce, oversee, coordinate and provide quality control for preparation of construction drawings, specifications, calculations, cost estimates, budgets, schedules, planning and design with authority to direct, control, and monitor all activities on multiple concurrent projects.
Lead client meetings and design presentations for the architectural scope.
Construction Administration Services (15%): Conduct site visits, respond to RFI’s, review submittals and shop drawings, and interface with construction contractors and client.
Assessment Services (<5%): Inspect and/or lead a group of assessors to conduct architectural assessment (Facility Condition Assessment) and identify types of architectural systems/components, deferred maintenance, remaining useful life, and associated costs for repairs/replacement.
Business Development (20%):
Drive and contribute to business development activities in the Federal and commercial markets, including scheduling, budgeting, resumes, project writeups, contract administration, subcontractor and teaming agreements, and general preparation of proposals.
Produce and review scopes of work and request for proposals for consultants.
Develop project priorities and schedules for design, documentation process, permitting, bidding/construction procurement and construction administration.
Architecture Department Operations:
Direct project planning and design team activities and work allocations.
Provide supervision, mentorship, performance reviews and quality-control review of support staff.
Assign architectural staff to projects and ensure the skill set matches projects needs and deliverable schedules for each resource does not conflict.
Senior Architect Qualifications:
To succeed in this role, you need to meet the following basic requirements:
Bachelor of Architecture (5-year accredited program, or equivalent).
Florida AIA registration required or obtainable through reciprocity within 90 days.
Minimum of 10 years of professional experience in an architectural firm.
Minimum five years of experience industrial, aerospace and/or laboratory/clean-room projects.
Working knowledge of BIM (Revit) software. Candidates must have at least five years of experience with Revit.
Familiarity with both Design-Build and Design-Bid-Build procurement and design strategies.
Technical proficiency in development of construction drawings and permit application packages.
Experience in leading a team of multiple internal team members/consultants for project delivery as required.
Maintaining good client relationships through attentive and result-oriented service.
Salary: $100,000k-$125,000k/yr. (DOE)
