Project Engineer
Our client is seeking a dedicated Project Engineer to support the successful delivery of heavy civil construction projects. This role plays a key part in maintaining a strong safety culture, ensuring high-quality workmanship, and coordinating daily project operations in partnership with field and project management teams.
This role is onsite in Woodburn, Oregon.
Project Engineer Responsibilities
- Champion site safety by ensuring protocols are consistently followed, PPE is properly used, and safety expectations are reinforced daily.
- Lead or support regular safety meetings and contribute to pre-construction safety planning with project leadership.
- Monitor work quality across crews and apply internal QC practices to verify compliance with project standards.
- Support field operations in alignment with the company’s core values and performance expectations.
- Assist the Project Manager with day-to-day oversight of one or more civil construction projects.
- Maintain accurate and timely project documentation, including daily reports, production tracking, material certifications, test/inspection results, and related records.
- Manage project documentation workflows such as submittals, RFIs, correspondence, and quality-related documents.
- Collaborate closely with superintendents and foremen to understand daily activities, resolve issues, and maintain a thorough photo record of project progress.
- Review daily timecards and job reports to ensure correct labor and equipment coding.
- Support coordination with subcontractors, suppliers, and project vendors as needed.
- Assist with daily cost tracking and contribute to overall project financial accuracy.
Project Engineer Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or equivalent related experience.
- Experience working on civil construction projects such as roads, utilities, site development, aviation, or similar environments; internship experience is acceptable.
- Familiarity with project management and field productivity software (e.g., HCSS HeavyJob/HeavyBid), electronic document control tools, and CPM scheduling programs (MS Project, SureTrak, P6, or comparable).
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
Salary: $85K-$95K/year. (DOE)
