Lead Quality Engineer
Our client is seeking a Lead Quality Engineer to drive test automation and quality assurance for their Order Management technology portfolio. This role focuses on ensuring the reliability, scalability, and efficiency of Order Sourcing, Order Orchestration, and Inventory Availability within their OMS solutions. The ideal candidate will be a strong Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) with hands-on experience in building and optimizing automation frameworks, scripting, and guiding offshore automation teams. They must be capable of writing automation scripts from scratch, rather than just executing existing automated test cases. This role requires expertise in Selenium, Java, and Playwright, with experience in end-to-end integrated automation across multiple applications.

This role is fully remote to candidates located within CST or EST time zones.

Lead Quality Engineer Responsibilities

• Develop, execute, and maintain both manual and automated test scripts to ensure system reliability.
• Design and implement automation frameworks using Playwright, Selenium, and Java from scratch or by enhancing existing frameworks.
• Guide offshore automation engineers, providing support and best practices for automation scripting.
• Perform API testing, API automation, and backend integrated automation to validate system functionality.
• Ensure full traceability between requirements and test cases using JIRA or similar test management tools.
• Analyze transaction flows across systems to understand end-to-end business processes and potential risks.
• Partner with Business Analysts, Product Managers, and Developers to ensure comprehensive test coverage.
• Facilitate User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and Operational Readiness Testing (ORT) by providing test scenarios and coordinating efforts.
• Perform defect analysis, log issues in JIRA, and track resolution status.
• Utilize SQL queries to validate backend data and database functionality.
• Automate regression test scripts and incorporate defect prevention controls.
• Provide timely test execution reports, defect trend analysis, and quality metrics.
• Collaborate with offshore testing teams to ensure seamless execution of test plans.
• Prepare and maintain knowledge transfer documentation to support new team members.

Lead Quality Engineer Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in Quality Engineering with a proven track record in test strategy design and automation.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• Strong test automation experience with Playwright, Selenium, and Java, including the ability to build and maintain automation frameworks.
• Extensive API testing, API automation, backend testing, and backend integrated automation experience (must-have).
• Retail industry experience with expertise in Order Management Systems (OMS), including Order Sourcing, Inventory Availability, and Order Orchestration.
• Experience leading automation initiatives and mentoring QA engineers.
• Hands-on experience with SQL for backend testing and validation.
• Experience with JDA/Blue Yonder OMS or similar platforms (preferred but not required).
• Proficiency in BDD/TDD methodologies (Cucumber/Gherkin preferred).
• Strong understanding of Agile methodologies and traditional SDLC.
• Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
• Demonstrated experience working with offshore resources.
• Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and problem-solving ability.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Salary: $130k-$140k/year. (DOE)
