Information Technology Project Manager
Our client is seeking an Information Technology Project Manager to support a centralized IT project management organization responsible for delivering high-impact, enterprise-wide initiatives. This individual will lead multiple concurrent projects using formal project management methodologies to ensure delivery on scope, schedule, and budget while aligning with organizational governance and strategic priorities.

This role is a hybrid model in Sacramento, California.

IT Project Manager Responsibilities

• Manage 2–5 concurrent enterprise-level IT projects across initiation, planning, and execution phases in accordance with established project management governance and controls.
• Lead all core project management activities including project readiness, detailed planning, resource coordination, risk and issue management, communications, execution oversight, and formal project closeout.
• Develop and maintain required project documentation such as business cases, project charters, schedules, stakeholder registers, communication plans, risk logs, benefit realization plans, and recurring status reports.
• Facilitate formal phase gate reviews and secure required authorizations at each stage of the project lifecycle to ensure compliance with internal approval standards.
• Partner closely with business planners, sponsors, analysts, and cross-functional stakeholders to confirm funding, staffing, and alignment with enterprise priorities.
• Monitor and control project scope, schedule, budget, and risk, initiating formal change requests when thresholds or impacts require escalation.
• Produce regular and ad hoc project reporting using enterprise portfolio and reporting tools to maintain visibility and support governance decision-making.
• Lead project closeout activities including lessons learned documentation and post-implementation benefits tracking.
• Maintain strict adherence to ethical standards, delegated authority levels, and reporting requirements throughout the project lifecycle.

IT Project Manager Qualifications

• Minimum of five (5) years of hands-on experience managing information technology projects in an enterprise environment.
• Active Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is required.
• Demonstrated success managing multiple, concurrent, enterprise-scale projects within regulated, utility, or similarly structured environments.
• Strong ability to operate within formal project governance frameworks and rapidly adopt organization-specific project management processes.
• Proven expertise in schedule management, cost control, risk management, stakeholder communication, and governance compliance.
• Proficiency with enterprise project and portfolio management tools is required; experience with systems such as ServiceNow, SAP-based planning tools, and business intelligence dashboards is a strong plus.
• Experience working in Agile or hybrid delivery environments and/or Agile certification is preferred.

Compensation: $60-$85
