Field Service Engineer
Our client is seeking a Field Service Engineer to join their team, bringing a versatile and dynamic approach to equipment maintenance, repair, and customer support. This role offers an exciting opportunity to travel extensively, apply electromechanical expertise, and work with advanced analytical instruments.

This is a remote role is based in Sacramento, California. Extensive domestic and international travel is required.

Field Service Engineer Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance (PM) and basic service on high-tech systems, ensuring optimal performance.
• Troubleshoot and diagnose system issues using tools such as Digital Voltmeters (DVMs).
• Install, maintain, and repair equipment, including Analytical X-ray Systems, high-voltage power supplies, automation devices, and related technologies.
• Qualify instruments post-repair by executing operational and performance protocols.
• Manage travel arrangements and submit detailed expense reports.
• Provide technical support via phone, WebEx sessions, and on-site facility inspections.
• Maintain detailed records of service activities and secure customer acceptance of completed work.
• Attend certified training sessions to stay updated on product advancements.
• Collaborate with service and support centers to ensure customer satisfaction.

Field Service Engineer Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
• 2 or more years of experience repairing and maintaining mechanical, electro-mechanical, and/or electronic equipment.
• Strong electromechanical knowledge with a focus on electrical systems (approximately 50-60%).
• Proficiency with MS Office and basic networking concepts.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to travel extensively, including internationally, with a current passport/visa.
• Excellent communication skills, including the ability to simplify complex technical information.
• General understanding of analog electronics, high-voltage circuitry, laser technology, and high vacuum systems.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently while maintaining a collaborative team focus.
• Strong organizational and prioritization skills, with a customer-focused mindset.
• Familiarity with troubleshooting tools and techniques; ability to work with small hand tools.
• Open to candidates with diverse industry backgrounds, such as automotive mechanics or other broad electromechanical fields.

Salary: $85k-$112k/year. (DOE)
