Data Analyst (Merchandising)
Our client is seeking a Data Analyst (Merchandising) to support data-driven decision-making across product, assortment, and marketplace strategies. This role is ideal for a technically strong analyst who thrives in ambiguity, enjoys translating complex data into clear insights, and can partner closely with business stakeholders in a fast-paced, matrixed environment. The ideal candidate brings strong retail analytics experience, advanced technical skills, and the ability to influence decisions through storytelling and visualization.

This role is a hybrid model in Beaverton, Oregon.

Data Analyst (Merchandising) Responsibilities

  • Analyze large, complex datasets using advanced SQL and Python or R to uncover insights related to product performance, assortment strategy, pricing, and distribution.
  • Develop, maintain, and deliver Tableau dashboards and visualizations that clearly communicate findings to non-technical business partners.
  • Work with point-of-sale and marketplace data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities that inform merchandising decisions.
  • Integrate and reconcile data from multiple sources to build accurate, scalable analytical frameworks and models.
  • Partner closely with merchandising, planning, operations, and analytics teams to support strategic initiatives and ongoing analysis.
  • Translate analytical findings into actionable recommendations through clear data storytelling and executive-ready materials.
  • Manage multiple analytical projects simultaneously while navigating evolving priorities and loosely defined objectives.

Data Analyst (Merchandising) Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field is required.
  • Advanced proficiency in SQL, with hands-on experience using Python or R for data analysis reflected on the resume.
  • Advanced experience building dashboards and visualizations in Tableau.
  • Proven background in data analytics, with retail or point-of-sale data experience strongly preferred.
  • 3+ years of experience in analytics, data science, or a related quantitative discipline.
  • Experience working with modern data environments such as Snowflake or Databricks.
  • Solid understanding of statistics and analytical methodologies, with the ability to build or interpret basic data models.
  • Ability to communicate complex analyses clearly to business and senior stakeholders.
  • Comfort working in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment with a bias toward action.
  • Experience within large, matrixed retail or consumer organizations is highly preferred.
