Civil/Structural Engineer
Our client is seeking a Civil/Structural Engineer to join their team and contribute to the design and analysis of safety-related and non-safety-related structures in the nuclear sector. This role requires a strong foundation in structural design, proficiency with ANSYS, and a collaborative approach to multidisciplinary engineering projects.

This role is fully remote.

Civil/Structural Engineer Responsibilities

  • Perform civil structural analyses and design of Nuclear Safety-Related and Non-Safety-Related structures, focusing on materials such as concrete and steel.
  • Utilize structural engineering tools and industry standards to develop and process analytical results.
  • Collaborate with other disciplines and external consultants to ensure effective coordination of design activities and resolve technical challenges.
  • Develop and review technical documents, including requirements, methodology documents, design reports, and studies.
  • Interact with contractors, regulatory bodies, and other stakeholders, demonstrating strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Lead oversight of suppliers and review technical information (e.g., drawings, reports, specifications, calculations) to ensure alignment with project requirements.
  • Provide mentorship to junior team members and take the lead on technical issues as needed.
  • Maintain a strong commitment to safety culture, quality assurance standards, and team collaboration.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Civil/Structural Engineer Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited institution is required; an advanced degree is preferred.
  • A Professional Engineer license (P.E.) is required.
  • At least 8 years of structural design engineering experience, with expertise in the design and analysis of concrete and steel structures.
  • Proficiency with ANSYS is required.
  • Experience with LS-DYNA is preferred.
  • Familiarity with relevant codes and standards, including ASCE 43, ASCE 4, ACI 349 & 318, ASCE 7, IBC, and AISC N690.
  • Preferred experience with computer programming tools such as MATLAB or Python.
  • Eligible to work under Department of Energy 10 CFR Part 810.
  • Ability to travel locally and nationally using common forms of transportation.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interpret and create complex technical documents.
  • Skilled in prioritizing tasks, managing deadlines, and coordinating projects effectively.
  • Comfortable working in a dynamic environment with changing priorities and requirements.
  • Reliable, consistent, and responsive to organizational needs.
  • Builds strong interpersonal networks and fosters trust within teams.
  • Adheres to safety and quality standards, including 10 CFR 50 Appendix B, 10 CFR 21, and ASME NQA-1.

Salary: $121k-$146/year. (DOE)
