Software Engineering Manager
Our client is looking for a Software Engineering Manager to help lead a Portland-based innovation lab. This lab will be responsible for building the digital presence into a best-of-class automotive ecommerce retail product-suite. This person will have a ground-up impact on the technology systems/services, business, and most importantly, their customers. An ideal candidate will be innovative, adaptable, and have strong development skills allowing them to work collaboratively across teams to solve critical business challenges. The Software Engineering Manager reports to the Senior Manager of Digital Innovation out of Portland, Oregon.

Hire and lead a team of up to 3 other engineers with the full support of the Engineering Organization.
Own engineering operations within your team, in an agile framework.
Grow and Mentor team through 1×1’s, brown bags and other learning opportunities.
Enable developer productivity by unblocking and clearing the way.
Deliver high quality code and releases.
Collaborate with Product, Technology, and Design leads to drive business outcomes.
Provides input on level of effort and risks to inform project scope.
3+ years experience managing software engineers in some form of Agile.
5+ years experience shipping and supporting high-scale, high-performance web applications in a cloud environment.
Excellent communication skills and a strong attention to detail.
Expertise in HTTP, web application architecture, scalability, performance optimization, reliability, deployment, monitoring, security.
Technology: React, Redux, Node, Cosmos, Docker, Azure, and more.
Strong attention to detail and sense of urgency.
Excellent communication skills both written and oral.
Active Listening – give full attention to the words and body language of others, take time to understand the points being made and ask questions as appropriate.
Critical Thinking – using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
Time Management – ability to prioritize workload and manage one’s own time.
