Senior Project Manager
Our client is seeking a Senior Project Manager to join their team in Portland, OR. The ideal candidate for this position will possess the qualifications/competencies identified in the position described above and the knowledge, skills, and abilities in this ideal candidate profile. This position is responsible for planning, organizing, and managing the implementation of IT projects to support BDS’s business needs. The position will lead IT projects in coordination with other staff including internal staff, vertical applications support staff, and consultants. This position requires sound professional judgment, highly skilled relationship and team building, and excellent problem-solving skills.
Summary of Essential Duties
Manages IT projects by developing and managing project plans including scope, schedule, budget, and quality.
Manage, motivate, and organize project support and implementation teams including internal staff (technical and business), vertical applications support staff, and consultants.
Provide and facilitate high-quality communication of project progress, issues, and timelines with management and all project stakeholders.
Develop work scope, schedule, budget, and success criteria for project delivery.
Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or similar discipline or equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience.
Minimum of 8 years of technical project/program management experience managing large/complex IT software development or software implementation projects, including familiarity with release cycles.
Excellent written, verbal, presentation, and relationship development/management skills.
Excellent project plan development, communication, and execution.
Well-versed in managing projects in a matrixed organization.
Experience in managing throughout the entire project lifecycle (initiation, planning, execution, monitoring/controlling, and closure, adhering to best practices, standards, and framework for enterprise IT project delivery).
Deep understanding of all aspects of software design with a demonstrated track record of increasing responsibility.
Experience in clarifying objectives, dealing with ambiguity/under-defined problems, advocating for simplification, and influencing teams.
Experience in daily operational activities of IT/software development projects.
Self-starter, strong organizational, and task management skills.
Strong experience with establishing and managing project schedules in Microsoft Project.
Prior public-sector project management experience.
Experience managing budget, resource requirements and allocation, project scheduling and monitoring, project risks, and change management.
PMP certification is highly preferred.
Agile certification is preferred.
