Our client’s Hardware Development (OHD) organization seeks a Senior Allegro Printed Circuit Board (PCB) Designer contractor to design complex, multi-layer, high-speed/high-density, next generation boards that are at the core of the servers used for Cloud Systems and Appliance deployments. This is a centralized function that supports OHD on both east and west coasts, with this position being based in either our Santa Clara, California or Burlington, Massachusetts campus.
You will work with Electrical Engineering, Mechanical, Signal Integrity and Power Integrity functional experts across multiple project teams to layout boards that utilize the latest technology from all of the major hardware vendors in the compute, storage and communications arenas.
As a Senior Allegro Printed Circuit Board Designer, you will be responsible for all aspects of PCB design including placement, routing, checking, documentation, and data output generation.
Hardware Engineer Responsibilities
Produce PCB [printed circuit board] layouts on assigned engineering product requirements while meeting established schedules, design rules, methodology and quality levels.
Efficiently use Cadence Allegro (v17) and other related design software tools such as Mentor Valor NPI as well as internally developed program utilities.
Utilize established processes, workflows and procedures for creating, checking, and validating required design files, output data, reports and documentation in order to manufacture and assemble PCBs to company standards.
Provide schedule estimates for both design completion as well as interim milestone dates.
Hardware Engineer Qualifications
Minimum of 5 years of experience with Cadence Allegro through version 17 with a focus on large format, multi-layer, high-speed digital designs.
Extensive experience with Cadences Constraint Manager tool and proficiency in constraint driven methodologies. Able to create and implement physical constraints as well as interface with SI engineers on electrical constraints.
Solid understanding of the PCB design trade-offs between high-speed digital, signal integrity, power, thermal and mechanical requirements and be able to recommend and implement the best overall PCB layout solution to the project teams.
Experience with high speed routing techniques and topologies including differential pair, relative propagation and match delay, and phase tuning.
