Enterprise Cloud Data Platform Architect
Our client is seeking an Enterprise Cloud Data Platform Architect to ramp up on their modern Enterprise Data, Reporting & Analytics platform capabilities. This part of a broader Enterprise IT Foundations program that include Cloud, Mobility, Data & Analytics, Integration and DevSecOps. Our client has launched a program and the corresponding work streams to build out the platforms, standards and governance to enable upcoming major programs embracing these modern technologies. Cloud Adoption is based on Azure as the primary cloud service providers and several of these foundational capabilities will be built upon the core cloud foundation in Azure. These capabilities have several downstream dependencies that are on-going or ready to kick off (Microsoft 365, SAP S4/Hana…). 

The Enterprise Cloud Data Platform Architect will work with Enterprise Architecture, Infrastructure, Security and Enterprise Application in refining and validating the architecture framework for designing data solutions that will exist in Azure IaaS and PaaS environments and integrating solutions into their applications infrastructure. The architect’s primary responsibility will be Data, Reporting and Analytics platform architecture in an on-premises and cloud hybrid environment landscape. In addition, the architect will review the defined reference, solution architectures for core enterprise cloud foundation on Azure and Microsoft 365, refine them in the context of cloud data platform and right size. Overall this role will bring broader Azure cloud platform experience and with deeper experience with cloud data platform. This role will be forward focused to set up this modern IT foundational platform/capabilities that will be transformational for the business through technology enablement and increased business agility. 

The program is expected to include one primary role working in close coordination with the Director of Enterprise Architecture: 
Enterprise Architect 

The Enterprise Cloud Data Platform Architect will include architecting, high level solution design and guiding the implementation of Data, Reporting and Analytics platforms in a hybrid cloud environment setting This includes understanding of the industry leading enterprise class Data, Reporting and Analytics platform services on cloud (Microsoft Azure Data and Analytics and SAP S/4Hana in particular). 

The architect will lend his expertise in Data, Reporting and Analytics platform implementation on Azure Analytics and/or SAP S4/Hana. As part of the above scope, the architect will review and build upon the architecture recommendations from Data, Reporting and Analytics architecture and roadmap project. The architecture will provide the stewardship to steer the data platform architecture in the right direction, guidance on managing inter dependencies and ensuring successful implementation of the enterprise use cases for data management and analytics. 

In addition, the architect with the broader Azure cloud platform experience will review the internal cloud roadmap, deployed cloud solutions, upcoming major cloud-based initiatives and provide technical leadership in reviewing and refining the cloud foundation architecture framework for Azure cloud services in a comprehensive manner. This will require understanding the specific stack of services including 3rd party (e.g. Core Microsoft Azure services, Microsoft 365, Microsoft Azure Data & Analytics, SAP S4/Hana) and review and refine the architecture framework that is in alignment with cloud goals, principles, and operating model. This will also include reviewing currently landed cloud projects in the pipeline and advocating required adjustments in alignment with the cloud architecture and governance frameworks. 
The architect will also act as an advisor on Cloud Agile development methodologies (DevSecOps) and best practices on integrating systems in the data pipeline across the cloud and on-premises (hybrid environment). 

Few key activities are called out below and the list will be expanded based on the scope defined: o Review and validate internal Data, Reporting & Analytics reference, solution architectures and implementation plan for Data Management pipeline, Data Warehouse and data analytics pipeline. 
Provide guidance and direction on key data platform decisions in the pipeline (Data management, data warehouse and data analytics), the best practices, design standards and the rationale behind the recommendations. 
Act as the liaison between the SI and internal resources, act as the expert independent technical steward to steer the platform build out and use cases implementation. 
Gap analysis between cloud solutions and current Azure Environment.
Analyze existing agency cloud policy and strategy .
Review and validate Cloud Resource Templates, Policies and Governance Plans.

Review and validate establishment of cloud governance model and expand the governance to data platform. 
Review and validate Microsoft 365 architecture in the context of broader cloud and data platform architecture, sequencing of capabilities and operating model. Recommend refinements as needed. 
Technical leadership in identifying and navigating the inter dependencies between these implementations(Cloud Foundation, Microsoft 365 and Data Platform) .
This role will work closely with the key players and stakeholders who will be part of these different programs (Enterprise IT&S Foundations, Microsoft 365, S4/Hana Horizon 1) 

Refinement and validation of the data platform reference and solution architectures with a framework that includes architectural principles, guidelines and standards. 
Review of Cloud Foundation and relevant Microsoft 365 architecture capabilities in the context of Data platform and provide refinements as required with the rationale on recommendations. 
Assist in product selection process and gap analysis as required across the Data pipeline (Data Management, Data warehouse, Data Analytics…). 
Review and validate defined policies, standards and solution architectures of the foundational capabilities that are relevant and in the context of data platform in a cloud, on-premised hybrid environment. 
Lead establishment of the right sized cloud data platform aligned governance framework across these foundational capabilities adapted to the resource pool and organizational maturity. 
Assessment of Identity and Access Management (IAM) policy for data platform in alignment with IAM policies and standards. 
Other deliverables that require technical stewardship and relevant experience to make this program successful 

Requested Qualifications
15+ years of experience in taking the organizations through major data transformation journey and driving the modernization and transformation of data, reporting and analytics platform best practices, process, people and technical nuances suited for organizations. 
The data, reporting and analytics platform experience spanning on-premises and cloud hybrid environments involving azure and strong knowledge in SAP S/4Hana is preferred. 
10+ years of experience of implementing enterprise class cloud based modern foundational. capabilities including Microsoft suite of services and other 3rd party services (Data analytics solutions including SAP landscape, Microsoft 365, Customer facing solutions…) preferably in Azure. 
Should also have experience in cloud security/governance including subscription design, resource groups, and RBAC policies. 
Deep planning, analytical organizational and communication skills. 
Excellent interpersonal skills, including collaboration, facilitation, and negotiation.
Ability to lead work effort with little day to day supervision. Ability to work through ambiguity and escalate issues to maintain project momentum.
