Employee Relations Manager
Our client is hiring an Employee Relations Manager for their team in Hillsboro, Oregon. Employee Relations Managers leverage their experience with employment law principles to conduct workplace investigations. ER Managers provide advice, consultation and guidance to foster sustainable solutions to team members and to address organizational challenges. ER Managers steward company values by making fair and consistent recommendations and resolving matters in a proactive consultative manner.
Employee Relations Manager Responsibilities
Investigate complex workplace matters in accordance to internal polices and ER Service Level Agreements.
Maintain required documentation within the ER case management system for advice and counsel and investigations.
Present investigation findings and provide recommendations to influence business leaders and partners to make decisions that align with internal policies and procedures.
Provide recommendations to improve organizational health.
Advise and consult on policies, Performance Action Plans and Corrective Action.
Utilize analytics to engage in proactive ER practices to 1) reduce the total number of complaints received 2) improve organizational health.
Facilitate Training on ER related topics (including internal policies).
Actively manage caseloads and partner with appropriate Stakeholders to ensure timely resolution.
Serve as Subject Matter Expert on internal ER procedures and serve as first point of contact on escalated items.
Must operate with integrity, confidentiality and demonstrate good judgment when engaging with others and making decisions.
Other duties as assigned.
Employee Relations Manager Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree required in Human Resources, Labor/Industrial Relations, Business or equivalent.
Advanced degree, JD, or other specialized training in Labor Relations/ER a plus.
Three to Five (3-5) years of experience in an HR Generalist, ER, or a related role, conducting investigations related to Federal, State, Local employment and Labor laws for multi-site organization.
Extensive knowledge of workplace complaint investigations, union avoidance, employee advocacy and EEO compliance.
Solid understanding of Federal and State Employment & Labor Laws.
Strong influencing skills with proven success in influencing employees at all levels of the organization in a consultative methodology.
Strong Written and Verbal communication Skills.
Project Management and Facilitation Skills.
Technically proficient in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Organizational skills; including the ability to effectively prioritize and meet deadlines, as well as multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to establish trust and credibility.
Able to work effectively at all levels in the organization.
Travel: Less than 10%.
