Embedded SW Engineering Manager
Our client is looking for an Embedded Software Engineering Manager to help shape the future of mobility together. As the Embedded Software Engineering Manager you’ll be responsible for delivering world-class products to transit agencies and users throughout the world. The Engineering Manager will oversee a cross-functional team who is responsible for the on-time delivery of high quality software. The ideal candidate has a unique balance of technical expertise and leadership skills, as well as a passion for building great teams.

Embedded SW Engineering Manager Responsibilities 
Leading an agile cross-functional team through the delivery of new products and services, as well as their ongoing support and maintenance.
Managing embedded software development projects, embedded engineers, and test engineers.
Lead and participate in architecture, design, and code reviews across multiple software teams.
Helping the team understand their goals and the underlying business strategy.
Inspiring, mentoring and setting expectations for team members.
Making sure the team has clear priorities and adequate resources.
Assure compliance with all applicable standards using appropriate design and testing methodologies.
Continually improving the output of the team, working with the team to find ways to improve outcomes and deliver value.
Planning upcoming work in a way that sets the team up for success.
Work with technical leads to make architecture and technical solution design decisions.
Facilitating daily standups, sprint planning, retrospectives, and backlog grooming (shared with Product Owner).
Managing technical and delivery risk, proactively escalating and proposing mitigation strategies.
Addressing challenges and proposing solutions to issues shared across teams.
Performing basic line management responsibilities such as PTO approval, performance reviews, etc.
Other duties as required by the company.

Embedded SW Engineering Manager Required Qualifications 
BS in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related subject, or combination of equivalent experience.
8+ years of hands-on experience with embedded system design and development.
4+ years in a leadership position with a successful track record in managing engineering teams.
Thorough, in-depth knowledge of embedded, microprocessor based controller design required.
Knowledge of HW communication standards such as I2C, SPI, USB, CAN and Ethernet.
Knowledge of internet protocols such as TCP/IP, UDP, HTTP, MQTT.
Expertise in C and C++ programming.
Proven experience troubleshooting and debugging complex system issues.
Expertise in using version control software.
Strong track record of successfully delivering software projects on time.
Expertise in agile development, including continuous integration and continuous delivery.
Knowledge and practical experience applying software quality principles and practices.
Understanding of automated test frameworks.
Understanding of RESTful principles.
Experience supporting production applications and services.

Preferred Qualifications and Skills:
Familiarity with JIRA, Confluence or similar tools.
Understanding of mobile application publishing.
Experience with micro-service or service-oriented architectures.
Experience working with RESTful web services and JSON.
Experience with BLE, BLE Mesh, WiFi, NFC, and barcode technologies.
Understanding of Linux security testing and penetration testing tools.
Familiarity with the AWS IoT technology stack.
Practical experience with multiple languages, frameworks and paradigms.

Additional Information:
Additional hours as necessary to accomplish objectives, goals and projects.
Travel Required: 0-10% of the time.
