Director of Strategic Initiatives
Our client is seeking a Director of Strategic Initiatives to join their dynamic team in Portland, OR. The Director of Strategic Initiatives will drive innovation and develop/invent new products or product lines and enter new markets – to significantly grow our client’s revenues. Leverage our client’s core products and strengths combined with 3rd party technologies and partnerships and bespoke development where necessary. Combine insights from customers, new technologies and technology trends to develop a compelling competitive advantage – to gain #1 market share position in tactical communications across the DoD and Federal Agencies.
Director of Strategic Initiatives Responsibilities:
Ideate, develop and launch new integrated solutions – expanding opportunities in core and strategic DoD, Intel, Federal Government and related markets.
Work with customers to identify gaps and create solutions that can be brought to market as packaged products.
Identify new technologies that can be added to our products, work with suppliers/vendors to license their technologies for incorporation.
Evangelize the solution internally
Develop, update and own the requirements documents
Create development strategy consisting of identifying internal resources in hardware/software and networking engineering. Supplement with licensed technologies or development partnerships.
Articulate technical benefits that can be used as input for positioning and messaging.
Provide matrix-management and supervision across internal teams and partners during development to ensure project is on track and requirements are met.
Technical evangelist for the solution (externally).
Draft white whitepapers and draft technical content for technical materials and marketing materials. Provide technical content for RFPs.
Train SEs and sales staff on the solution.
Support key early customer meetings.
Work with sales/capture team on complex proposals that require modifications or customization, until SEs are fully up to speed.
Support launch and PR activities, and the technical spokesperson for the solution.
Director of Strategic Initiatives Qualifications:
BS in a related engineering discipline such as software engineering, network engineering or cyber security.
10 years software engineering, network engineering, systems engineering or closely related technical field.
5 years project management experience in product development or product management, in an IT field such as software engineering, network development or cyber security implementation. Ideal candidates have experience with matrix management/cross functional management.
Network engineering experience with networking certifications (e.g, CCNA) a strong plus.
Demonstrated team leadership skills, with the ability to focus team efforts to meet clear objectives. Experience working with executives internally and externally, to align organizations and develop partnerships.
Extremely strong written and verbal communication skills, including extensive technical and proposal writing experience.
Demonstrated product and technical strategy experience, with the ability to identify competitive opportunities.
Understanding and experience developing product-based business models and go to market activities.
Ideal candidates have US DoD experience in tactical networking – through working in the service as a communicator, working at a network integration prime contractor, or as a vendor/supplier.
