Our client is seeking a Design Engineer to join their team in Hood River, OR.
Performs component level design and layout on 2-stroke engine development cycle, specializing in engine technology consistent with specifications and performance targets.
Conducts limited risk assessment and trades studies on Engine systems.
Creates engineering documentation and drawings using CAD tools. Recommends initial test criteria and conducts verification and validation testing within established guidelines.
Gathers, documents and analyzes engine flight and bench test data.
Performs limited failure mode, effects, and criticality/failure root-cause analysis.
Makes design recommendations and implement the design change.
Troubleshoots production and configuration problems.
Performs initial investigation, determines root cause, summarizes findings and makes recommendations.
Knowledge of computer-aided tools aided three-dimensional interactive data (SolidWorks) and design and drafting methods (e.g., orthographic projection, descriptive geometry, layout, geometric dimensioning & tolerance, coordinate systems, etc.).
Able to manipulate data sets, compare measurement data, create stereo lithography files.
Knowledge of engineering tests techniques, including handling qualities, performance, systems testing, structural loads, propulsion, etc.
Knowledge of internal combustion engine design to include 2/4 stroke, carbureted/electronic fuel injected, spark ignited/compression ignition, gasoline and heavy fuel delivery/combustion.
Knowledge of mechanical engineering theories (e.g., compressible/incompressible fluid flow, Bernoulli's Theorem, thermodynamics, control theory, Mohr's theory of stress) and methods/formula selection (e.g., vibration analysis, load calculations, heat transfer, flow, root cause analysis, pressure drop).
Experience in two stroke engines with heavy fuel combustion capability is a plus.
2-4 years in an engineering classification with a Bachelor's degree or 0-2 years’ experience in an engineering classification with a Master's degree.
