The Data Warehouse Architect primary responsibility is to support the data integrity of the data warehouse environment through defining and maintaining data quality standards and policies, and optimizing efficiencies. Responsibilities include designing architecture and combining data from the organizations enterprise systems making data available for informed decision making, reporting analysis, and data mining. The Data Warehouse Architect will use data integration, transformation, analysis and query tools to help business partners with research, understand data requirements, design conceptual, logical and physical data models, and business analysis of data.
Data Warehouse Architect Responsibilities
Provide the development and support of all standard and ad hoc data warehousing architecture and development and support of complex database designs of the data warehouse.
Develop and implement a standard for ad-hoc reporting requirements.
Coordinates with Database Administrator or source data vendors to remedy technical and other issues impacting the Data Warehouse, data and/or output.
Utilizes databases and information systems to research and identify areas for improvement. Interprets data and makes recommendations to stakeholders.
Develops strategic and tactical analytics that support balanced scorecards, dashboards, data summaries and key performance indicators.
Maintains detailed knowledge of department function(s) and areas of workflow and system data management within the Data Warehouse.
Work closely with business partners to gather data requirements; align their needs with source data capabilities; develop new technical objects or upgrade existing processes; and troubleshoot and research data issues.
Explain data, data scope, impact of data changes to various reporting teams to help non-technical, internal customers to drive their analytics and reporting.
Partners with other analysts, external vendors and business partners in the development of advanced/complex reporting capabilities and resolution of issues relating to reporting applications, tools and data.
Ensures data is consistent, accurate, usable, understandable, actionable, and effectively presented and/or communicated through change management process.
Create and maintain clear, detailed and accurate metadata documentation.
Conduct tests or test planning sessions, provide input for feasibility and prepare user documentation and follow-up evaluations.
Facilitates and/or lead projects to ensure useful and accurate data identification, categorization and definitions that enable metric creation.
May act as a liaison to collaborate with other operating groups to resolve problems or make recommendations for improvements and efficiencies to programs and processes/procedures.
Attends staff and department meetings as scheduled.
Coach, mentor, or train others and teach coursework as subject matter expert, as assigned.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Data Warehouse Architect Qualifications
Ability to build, implement and train stakeholders on how to access information from the Data warehouse using an industry standard front end like Tableau or Power BI.
Strong knowledge of data mapping and data modeling processes.
Strong knowledge of database design and configuration.
Ability to apply various analytical tools and software application experience to increase quality, productivity, and overall effectiveness of data.
Demonstrated knowledge of banking products, systems, procedures, regulations, business acumen and ability to interpret data to make recommendations for improvements as necessary is preferred.
Ability to develop database queries, scripts, tools, and methods to manage data according to management requirements. Proficient with relational database concepts and practices, is able to evaluate and write complex SQL queries, and able to create and maintain common database objects such as views, stored procedures, and user-defined functions.
Proficient with MS Excel at an advanced level.
Ability in investigating discrepancies, capturing and maintaining data in an information management system or complex databases.
Ability to work with individuals and teams at all levels across the organization and with external company representatives and vendors. Strong communication, interpersonal and influencing skills and ability to coordinate, develop and implement cross-departmental projects.
Ability to work in a deadline driven environment with strong problem solving and decision-making skills. Strong attention to detail and process orientation.
Ability to understand and follow all policies and procedures, compliance regulations, and complete all required annual or job-specific training.
Ability to adapt to changes in the work environment, manage multiple projects and perform efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Applied Computer Science, Computer Applications, or Database Administration required.
Minimum 3 years’ experience in database management, relational/dimensional data modeling, data mining, report writing required. Financial Industry Experience preferred.
Minimum 3 years’ Microsoft SQL programming experience required. Experience with C++ or Visual Basic is required.
