Our client’s Data and Analytics department makes sense of our data world through meaningful and actionable insights, identifying trends, delivering reports, informing product and infrastructure advancements, and promoting a culture of data-driven decision making. The Data Engineering branch of the Data and Analytics department partners with the Business Intelligence branch to ensure high quality data stores are available to support the reporting needs across the organization. This is achieved through the design and creation of high-quality data feeds and stores, leveraging modern data platforms. The Data Engineering team is adding a data engineer to help deliver and support our existing and future data platform solutions. Technical teams are tightly integrated and collaborate closely with stakeholders across several different lines of business on data strategy and objectives. Team members are expected to gather information to ensure business requirements are being fulfilled throughout the entire data & analytics lifecycle.
Data Engineer Responsibilities
Understand and work with multiple data sources to participate in the creation of a unified, integrated solution which implements defined business rules and supports analytical needs.
Implement scalable data acquisition and processing pipelines, transformations, and semantic layers to support end-to-end business intelligence solutions, workflows, applications and self-service reporting.
Create, test, implement and maintain all ETL procedures and processing, ensuring the best possible performance and data quality.
Participate in planning and defining requirements.
Develop, test and maintain the organization’s data stores.
Maintenance and support for test and production systems as a member of a DevOps team.
Ensure proper source control, documentation, testing and quality assurance processes are developed and followed to maintain high data integrity.
Participate in the development, specification and communication of a data management plan, and the infrastructure components required to support it.
Data Engineer Qualifications
5+ years of demonstrated experience with ETL processes, SSIS packages, data modeling, data warehousing, and relational database design. ETL design and implementation experience. Data warehouse design and implementation experience.
Proficiency w/ SQL. Proficiency w/ Microsoft Data Platform (SSIS, SSRS 2016+). Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
What would be Nice to Have
Experience with data visualization tools. Supply Chain Management and Logistics. SSAS data models and cubes. Data modeling / dimensional modeling experience.
Understanding of modern data architecture and DevOps.
Microsoft MCSA: BI Development.
Microsoft MCSE: Data Management and Analytics, Data Platform or Business Intelligence.
