Data Center Engineer
Our client’s services include Client Support/Helpdesk, Enterprise Application Management, IT Project Management Office and Class A Data Center Operations. They are looking for a Data Center Engineer with a track record of implementing and operating highly reliable and scalable IT services in a virtualized environment. They are in the process of modernizing our infrastructure, adding new services and delivering projects within a hybrid cloud, 24x7 mission-critical environment.
Data Center Engineer Responsibilities
Supports and administers Active Directory, VMWare server environment, Workspace ONE, Public Key Infrastructure, Backup systems, application hosting environment.
Collaborates with US & Berlin based teams to implement MS Office 365 as collaboration standard. Supports and coordinates the migration from Lotus Notes to MS Exchange.
Addresses user requests problems, system maintenance, task automation, implements system monitoring and alerting.
Reports quantitative metrics of service quality and related compliance with standards and SLAs.
Data Center Engineer Qualifications
Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or Business Administration (BA/BS), MBA preferred or relevant experience.
Experience in application hosting and optimization of virtual and physical server, OS, DB and network environment for applications.
Experience in PowerShell scripting and GPO settings in a global Windows AD forest.
Experience in client management, deployment of updates, security patches and management of device images.
Ability to break large projects into smaller executable, operational tasks with committable delivery times.
Ability to relate technical issues to business impact and handle outages and escalations.
6+ years of hands-on experience in Windows AD and Windows Server administration (2012, 2016), experience in administration of Linux systems is a plus.
6+ years of experience in VMWare system administration (e.g. vSphere, AppStacks, AppVolumes, Horizon, AppDefense, etc.).
Understanding of VMware technologies and validated designs.
Experience with system monitoring and alerting systems (e.g. Nagios, SolarWinds, Splunk, etc.).
Experience with Public Cloud Services such as AWS and Azure.
Enterprise Active Directory Objects and Integration.
Windows and Linux Server Administration.
Understanding of modern network concepts.
Experience in database administration (MS SQL and/or Oracle).
Experience with Identity and Access Management concepts and integrations.
Experience with Atlassian product suite, including JIRA and Confluence.
Experienced with team environment with both individual and shared goals.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal), including presentation to customers, peers, and senior/executive management.
Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills.
ITIL (experience in ITIL-based environments and/or certification) is a plus.
Must be able to travel internationally and domestically.
