Core Systems Engineer
Our client is seeking a Core System Engineer to join their team in Clackamas, OR.  The Core Systems Support Engineer ensures the stable operation, integration, and optimization of the Credit Union’s core computer system. Responsibilities include developing and implementing custom scripts to automate core processes across departments to provide efficiencies and enhance overall system capabilities; work with vendors to ensure regulatory compliance, up-time and integrations with external systems to the core; work with internal stakeholders to actively seek out efficiencies then work to implement.
 
The Core Systems Support Engineer ensures all systems linked to the Core are functioning properly and within established parameters. Additional responsibilities include daily operational tasks such as scheduling and executing batch jobs, analyzing and resolving end user hardware, software, program, and connectivity issues, and providing end user training where required.

Responsibilities
Manages, monitors and updates all Financial Core server systems, including patch installation and upgrades to servers and institutional software as needed.
Manage and implement new releases of Core software, including impact analysis, testing, scheduling, and both system and user change management. Ensure that the new features are communicated and work with stakeholder to implement fully if they are to be utilized. Manage the production, test and training environments.
Performs maintenance functions on the Core system, including service pack and release updates, after testing has been completed. Performs Core system backups and restores database backups when needed.
Develops technological solutions for processes and/or workflow by performing analysis and providing automation improvements. Validates results by testing programs and helping with new procedures.
Conducts troubleshooting to solve hardware and software problems. Provides requirements analysis, definition of system hardware and software solutions, definition of the scope of integration and conducts qualification testing, system qualification testing/integration testing of hardware software.
Manages and supports batch processing automation software for core system processes. This includes building new workflows, monitoring scheduled batch processes and resolving issues as identified.
Supports third party interfaces with Core Systems team for systems such as statements/e-statements/notices/e-notices, various lending platforms, FISERV, LynxGate, Online Banking and other related core vendors. This includes vendor due diligence, configuration of software and hardware, prioritization and resolution of problem issues.
Provides clear communications and resolutions to IT team regarding Core system related issues, upgrades and/or enhancements, ensuring all applications are up to date and meet security compliance.
Administer user roles, profiles and access settings.
Partner with the IS Security Team to ensure that all systems are in compliance with credit union standards and policies

Perform system related daily processing and operational support needs for all areas of the Credit Union which includes but is not limited to daily, month-end, quarter-end, and year-end processing. Ensure all daily jobs are completed according to established procedure.
Develops custom batch scripts to enhance the utilization of the Core system.
Assists with implementation, planning, and testing of backup and disaster recovery strategies.
Documents and maintains enterprise configuration standards with comprehensive system documentation and security practices in mind.
Manage, prioritize and escalate open service cases with the vendor. Develop and submit enhancement requests when appropriate.
Responsible for the formulation, prioritization and completion of multiple technology projects both as project manager and as project team member.
Serves as a subject matter expert for projects related to the Core system.
Provides training and knowledge transfer to end users and peers.
Provide assistance to management for special projects and research, as needed.
Acts as back up to other positions as needed.
Attends and actively participates in staff and departmental meetings.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Has frequent contact with vendors, staff and management; occasional contact with members.

Qualifications
Three years of financial institution IT experience required.
2+ years Fiserv XP2 Core experience required
BA/BS degree in Computer Science or related discipline required.
1+ years’ experience with Windows 2012/2016 Server/Active Directory, DB2, Linux, HP-UX and VMWare operating environments required
Experience with report writing tools such as Microsoft Access, Crystal Reports, Tableau, SSRS, etc. using proprietary and SQL-based databases required.
Experience with Python and quality assurance required. Experience with PowerShell and C# scripting desired.
Experience working with and building workflows within ISE Enterprise Scheduler desired.
Experience with SQL queries and stored procedures required.
Experience with administration of document imaging, Check21, loan origination, ACH & Share Draft processing, server backup systems is desired.

Ability to serve as primary Credit Union IT support contact for core system-related systems/technologies.
Ability to complete all core system-related tasks (system configuration/error remediation, periodic updates, etc.).
Ability to automate and operate the core system as needed to process daily and nightly jobs and reports.
Ability to create, automate, maintain and troubleshoot processing jobs as they relate to the core system.
Ability to analyze work processes and to make recommendations for process improvement.
Comprehensive knowledge of Information Technology security best practices, particularly as it relates to financial institutions.
Maintains high standards in areas of security, accuracy, thoroughness, completeness and neatness of documentation, system input, correspondence, system upgrades and system testing.
Provides exceptional service to employees, members and business partners for any information or corrective action required in the scope of accountability.
Supports employees in a professional, courteous and timely manner. Provides user training on an as needed basis
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and oral) to determine member and employee needs and to communicate ideas effectively at all levels of the organization and with vendors. Must be able to read, write, speak and understand the English language.
