Computer Hardware & Software Support

Our client is seeking Computer Hardware & Software Support to join their team in Vancouver, WA. This position is located in the IT Asset Management department within the Information Technology (IT) organization. This position directly supports the IT Asset Management Supervisor. The IT Asset Management team is responsible for coordination activities related to the acquisition of all hardware, software, and peripherals in the Office Automation asset plan. Position responsibilities include the warehousing; tracking; distribution, and recovery of hardware assets and software licenses, as well as administering the Agency’s mobile device program. This position requires a candidate to have a strong working knowledge of computer systems and components as well as operating systems and applications software. 

A valid driver’s license is required for this role and up to 10% travel to meeting, training sessions, or to move IT equipment between Vancouver and Portland Storage locations only. First Aid/AED/CPR Certification is required within 30 days of assignment start as well as Personal Protective Equipment ASTM F2413-11, Class 75EH rated footwear, hard hat, eye and ear protection, Arc Flash clothing, etc.) 


Computer Hardware & Software Support Responsibilities
Under the auspices of the IT Asset Management Specialist:
Support the IT Office Automation Asset Management request and approval process, procurement management, life cycle management, redeployment and disposal management:
Educate team and colleagues as needed to obtain accurate data collection and maintenance of office automation asset records.
Generate office automation asset tracking reports and records as needed by IT leadership for planning and budgeting purposes. Relay findings to the IT Asset Management Supervisor.
Assist in establishing, maintaining, and validating office automation asset management procedures and standards.
Draft procedures for use by department level staff to maintain an office automation asset database or tool.

Provide input and recommendations to the IT office automation asset management program in regard to functionality and purchases.
Maintain a large volume of the physical components of computers and computer networks from acquisition through disposal:
Verify that components are stored safely, are accessible, and are segregated and countable.
Assigned as the designated secondary asset center rep (ACR) under the Organizational Property Management Officer (OPMO).
Facilitate federal tagged property management.
Work with the Contracting Officer’s Representative (COR) in scope for asset acquisition, vendor contracts, and maintenance:
Conduct research to verify IT components work with existing equipment prior to requesting acquisition.
Request quotes for IT Hardware and other assets for presentation to the COR.
Draft Material Requests (MR’s) in Asset Suite for approval by the COR. Maintain inventory control of $2 million worth of IT equipment.

Conduct inventory analysis based on past usage patterns:
Analyze current inventory to verify there is adequate shelf stock.
Perform scheduled inventories of the stocked equipment.
Work with the COTR to acquire assets in order to maintain required stock levels.
Verify the correct compositions of materials are stocked.
Inspect and assess the working order of hardware and recommend if it is cost effective to redistribute to workforce or dispose of the item to the Manager or other Federal personnel.
Fulfill hardware requests from multiple departments.
Troubleshoot equipment to determine the integrity and functionality of the item.
Coordinate hardware disposal efforts with the Investment Recovery Center (IRC).

Asset planning:
Asset handling (ie: moving, stacking, storing and marking boxes).
Prepare items for shipping from the warehouse to other locations
Utilize appropriate packing and shipping methods:
Verify assets are packed correctly to avoid damage.
Determine shipping methods to ensure timely arrival.
Communicate with team, colleagues, as well as customers, through both written and verbal media effectively.
Work comfortably with a high volume of product and asset value.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.

Computer Hardware & Software Support Qualifications
A degree in the disciplines outlined below is preferred:
With an applicable Bachelor’s degree in Computer Technology, Computer Information or a closely related field, ½ years of information technology experience is required.
With an applicable Associate’s degree in Computer Technology, Computer Information or a closely related field, 2.5 years of information technology experience is required.
Without an applicable degree, 4.5 years of information technology experience is required.

Required Technical Skills & Experience
Hardware and software lifecycle management.
Technical knowledge of handled hardware.
General office skills such as phone and data entry skills.
1+ year working knowledge of computer systems and components, and to some degree, operating systems and applications software.

Preferred Skills & Experience
One or more of the following Certifications is desired: Microsoft Certified Desktop Support Technician (MCDST), Certified Software Asset Manager (CSAM), Certified Hardware Asset Management Professional (CHAMP), Certified IT Asset Manager (CITAM).
