CAD Designer-Control Systems
Our client is a global manufacturing company headquartered in Portland, OR with their brand in over 110 countries around the world. They are looking for a CAD Designer with electrical drafting experience to join this growing, dynamic team! The person in this role will be responsible for creating and maintaining engineering documentation for their new manufacturing equipment and facilities, as well as supporting the build and repair of automated equipment. Working with a wide variety of customers, this role is responsible for using CAD software and data management tools to create documents that help their internal customers perform their work safely and efficiently. Working within their Machine Design group, this role focuses on creating and documenting the electronic control systems on their custom manufacturing equipment.
Creates or modifies layouts, schematics, detail, and assembly drawings using CAD software (AutoCAD primarily, potential to adopt SolidWorks Electrical).
Reviews and develops change requests with the project engineer for clarity as needed.
Creates and updates Bills of Materials (BOMs) as required in ERP system (SAP).
Creates and distributes print packages per local plant procedures.
Converts legacy drawings to current CAD software and templates.
Incorporates redline changes into revision controlled documentation.
Establishes new part numbers for custom and commercially available components or documents.
Contributes to development and maintenance of department standards.
Helps customers find or clarify information regarding engineering documentation.
Looks at ways to improve their own methods focusing on reducing inefficiencies and throughput time of changes.
Helps distribute workload amongst other members of the design / drafting team.
Supports ERP data creation and modification for the entire department as needed.
Consults with suppliers to identify obsolete components and appropriate replacements.
Consults with internal and external control panel builders to ensure functional and quality needs are met.
Collaborates with electricians and other technical team members to identify potential solutions to production issues.
Five to seven years’ electrical drafting experience required.
Exposure to machine/equipment drafting and facility layouts desirable.
Able to complete responsibilities in a timely, professional and quality-focused manner.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Word, Excel) and data management software (SAP preferred).
CAD software proficiency - must be able to create 2D drawings to acceptable drafting practices (ANSI, NEC, etc.) in a timely manner.
Able to document new equipment designs well as revise existing designs with help of engineering staff.
Able to create, modify, and interpret Bills of Materials and Engineering Change Orders.
