Caboodle ETL Developer
Our client is seeking a Caboodle ETL Developer to join their team in Portland, OR. The ideal candidate will possess advanced-level ETL experience with Epic Caboodle’s ETL framework as well as experience using Microsoft’s data warehouse tools, including SSIS and SSAS. Hands-on experience with Epic Caboodle Data Warehouse is required with Epic Clarity preferred. Finally, the candidate shall be able to effectively read as well as author SQL at an advanced level.
This position is responsible for developing data warehouse structures in support of the implementation of internal Partners Caboodle Data Warehouse. Data will be sourced from Epic’s Clarity Operational Data store as well as various external databases and third-party data files. This work ensures that the information assets of the internal enterprise are leveraged to enhance financial, clinical, and operational decision-making, therefore ensuring competitive business advantages. This position is responsible for partnering with BI business analysts, SQL Server Database Administrators, and end-user layer Business Intelligence developers in implementing information technology solutions delivered to SQL Server for leveraging in SAP Business Objects, Epic Hyperspace, and Tableau. These solutions allow users to appropriately generate timely, accurate and comprehensive information for managing our business.
This position is responsible for the support of Caboodle Data Warehouse and SSIS for the team of developers and will be responsible for developing best practices with respect to coding, error handling, and parameter management. This position is also responsible for detailed technical analysis to assure the availability and accuracy of data processed by the ETL or contained in the supported data warehouse and systems.
Datawarehouse, ETL and Systems Development:
Contributes to the growth of the Caboodle Data Warehouse by designing, developing and implementing Caboodle ETL processes, SQL Server Data Structures, ANSI SQL code and SQL Server Structures.
Work with BI architects, developers, analysts and users to design, create and publish ETL processes and ETL metadata using CDW and SSIS ETL processes as required.
Provide complete and consistent documentation of data warehouse content and ensure that users can determine what data is available in the warehouse, how this data is defined, how key metrics are defined, and analysis is performed.
Use the knowledge gained by working with the ETL team and through prior experience to analyze healthcare data in order to meet reporting requirements.
Deliver additional ETL tools and/or data warehouse systems/products to improve the use of business data in the decision-making process.
Facilitate customer requests for new or changed solutions.
Develops options with recommendation, creates functional specifications including performance requirements, creates test plans to confirm delivered functionality.
System Administration & Application Management: Administers the Microsoft development toolset including SQL Server Integration Services by performing maintenance and upgrades and supporting the development team in the use of these tools.
Leads the development and dissemination of SSIS development best practices including but not limited to error and status logging and development parameter management.
Configures and manages the integration between TFS and SSIS in the support of code migration activities between server instances.
Develops scripts and code to assist in the automation of administrative processes.
Systems Engineering: Works closely with other internal IT staff to meet expectations for design reviews and coding standards.
Provides issue resolution during Quality Assurance / User testing.
Assists with the move to production/implementation process.
Troubleshoot and analyze ETL process failures, data anomalies and other ETL or data warehouse issues identified by automated monitoring, other developers and end users.
Work through established processes to resolve any system or data problems and communicate updates and status to affected groups.
Recommend changes to ETL processes and/or the data warehouse model to improve existing structures and code to increase reliability and efficiency.
Provides technical expertise to support end users developing ad-hoc queries and departmental reports. Support could include consulting on techniques/best practices, troubleshooting of their solutions, as well as promotion of user developed solutions to Quality Assurance and Production.
Respond to and track issues using HP Service Manager issue management tools.
Data Modeling: Work with data warehouse developers, line-of-business analysts and users to develop data structures that support and enhance information access, analysis and reporting.
Staff Development Attend classes, seminars and other training forums as appropriate and as directed by supervisor.
Epic Caboodle Data model Proficiency or Certification.
Epic CDW Developer Proficiency or Certification.
Master’s degree in business or computer science or related field and four years work related experience in the information technology field
OR Bachelor’s degree in business or computer science or related field and six years work related experience in the information technology field
OR Associate’s degree in business or computer science or related field and seven years work related experience in the information technology field;
OR Eight years work related experience in the information technology field;
OR Equivalent combination of education and experience where one year of experience will be substituted for an Associate’s degree and two years of experience.
Minimum five years of paid work experience as an Application Engineer or Developer using SQL Server SSIS.
Experience with developing ETL for Epic Caboodle Data Warehouse
Two or more years experience with Epic Clarity.
Minimum five years of experience with T-SQL or ANSI SQL coding and tuning.
Minimum three years working in relational databases.
One year experience with authoring MS SQL Server OLAP cubes through SSAS 2012 or newer.
Experience creating technical documentation of ETL and data models.
Experience with utilizing star schema data stores as the basis for ETL targets.
Caboodle Developer Certification.
